The accusation is the top you have wouldn't exist without the funding from ADV (allegedly). Hence, fruit from the poison tree. Thing is, it's an accusation at this point, and nobody here has any real idea how APG is funding what they're doing. Just what ADV has said and speculation about what APG did with those alleged funds.

Correct. Does anyone know how much money the owner has? Anyone know what his net worth is or how he started his business. Anyone know his background or what was done with any money received by anyone?
The only thing we know as absolute truth is ADV pre sold parts that were not available that another company was designing. We know that part for a fact. Who made that decision to pre sell? No clue. Where did all the pre sale money go? No clue

As I said in my first comment. A lot of "He said She said" going on now and NOBODY NOT DIRECTLY INVOLVED in these companies has zero clue of what actually happened.

I have zero equity in this fight as I am anxiously waiting for my Armadillo top, but I will continue to watch this show play out.

I will also leave this here, accusing a person/customer/entity of wrongdoing for having a product from a company that is now embroiled in a controversy that is not beholding of them is a fast track to a slander case. I would suggest all enhance their calm and just wait to see how this plays out.

An Internet forum depending on size can be considered a widely published forum for accusation. I would say I would not put that theory to the test. Also, it is just bad form to do such when you do not have any proof of anything you are speaking on.

Alas I am not going to speculate on this further, as I said I will sit back and watch this show go on.

I think from what APG claims that ADV got 8.5 million from the hardtops. 4.4 of that was sent to APG for hardtops that never came. That leaves 4.1 million. But, as people have said in this thread, people were getting refunds up until this whole thing was dropped. What if ADV just ran out of money from all the refunds they gave?

They were doing refunds up to a certain point right before they announced their lawsuit. I wonder if they were using the $4M leftover that was not paid to APG and using those funds for money and now stopped those refunds and using that money to lawyer up.

I took about five minutes of media libel in college and something something "public persona" makes it difficult to prove defamation in the US (not Britain!) absent of malice, which is a very high bar to prove. First amendment and all.

However, I do agree with your premise about piling on and wild speculation. The toilet swirls on...

I'm currently 8/8 and undefeated on my stance of never paying for products in advance that aren't currently completed, manufactured and ready to ship. I've been tempted but keep getting proven right. Looking to keep the streak alive.

As far as I know APG was NEVER going to sell the hardtops on their own. They were only using distributors like ADV and ADV was the first and only distributor to begin with. I don’t actually know this and I don’t know how many distributors there are or will be but the only hardtop sales APG was doing was for their “in house” builds.
there is no reason do distance ourselves from anyone at this point. It’s an amazing build and a dream build that has been amazing and is performing flawlessly (minus the bent factory raptor tie rod)
Nobody is building anything like APG is, with the attention to detail and the high end products used. Should everyone quit buying ford broncos all together since their factory hard tops are crap? Absolutely not. One thing does going wrong does not define a company.
Big car companies get sued all the time for faulty parts, recalls etc. I will not demonize an amazing company over 1 product they have spent millions on creating and Perfecting.
If ADV wouldn’t have sent out a pre sale option then nobody here would have any problems. Seems to me ADV jumped the gun when they should have kept it in their pants until the product was actually ready. APG didn’t pre sell anyone any hard top at all did they?
where would this whole thing be if AVD didn’t open pre sales on a product “in development”

APG's response stated ADV was merely a distributor and nothing else. Just thinking out loud here but what manufacturer bills a company that is simply a distributor and nothing else for a product that is still just a drawing on a napkin?

The court docs state they were going 50/50 into this project so sounds like they were both partners in development with specified roles they would assume once the top was in production. Dismissing ADV brings up a big red flag with APG's statement and loses credibility on my end.
