all I can say is I cant wait till my friend aka "10 thumbs " gets his. His wife bought me a very nice cyberorange bronco hat as a thankyou for helping them go through the order banks.

WOW this top might be worth a new fishing jacket for technical help.

Just a recap of @ADV Fiberglass . You didn’t provide any of the updates promised in November.

You are saying “May” for delivery. Customers are 100% getting scammed at this point.

@ADV Fiberglass used the original prototype and decided to create an install video to buy more time. Where is hardtop v1 vs. v2 comparison? This is a SCAM.

Unfortunately our manufacturing teams timelines were pushed back more than we wanted (from what we stated back in November). We are doing everything in our power to move things along quicker. This is a production top used in the video. Feel free to come visit our shop and see the production units in person as well!

Perhaps ADV should have waited till they actually could ship product before they started selling them. At least clients would be happy. If and when you get a top what are ya''ll going to do when you need warranty work?
Good luck with that.
Warranty work? Although there have been many reported leakage issues with the OEM hardtop sections and 1-piece cap, this DIY bolt assembled version should be fine. Plus you can take this one apart for reduced storage.

adv question
when the soft top is removed, prior to putting the adv hard top on,
does the plastic pillar caps on both sides have to be unbolted (3 bolts) each side and removed and then the 3 bolts put back in place. the hard top would then slip in.
I ask this because the TOR install shows that this must be done.
or am I mixing apples and oranges

top looks good. I will be taking it slooooooow

The fact that you have to completely build every nut and bolt of this hard top, including building the latches yourself, is unacceptable for $7,000. Aren’t there dozens of entry points for water this way? I get there are rubber gaskets, but still. Not a solid top. If it leaks, they are just going to blame you since you have to put it together.

But it can be disassembled for easier storage.

Oh, the things we must do to get the Assembled in America sticker.

They have already communicated:
Second reason to have our customers assembly is that way they know every detail about their top, if they need to adjust rubber, tighten j-clamps, turn handles, etc then they know exactly what to do.
People really shouldn't be surprised that it will be the customer's fault and they will be responsible to figure out any issues.

So I now have 2 data points. Ordered on 7/19/22 and as of 2/16/24 - in production.
Like I said, it is all now out there for Advanced Fiberglass Concepts to deliver…

Ordered: 3/1/2022
"In production": 2/16/2024

As much as my patience is running thin, I feel like I'm too far into the process to cancel and start over with another company.

I have a timer on Advanced Fiberglass Concepts. They get 2 updates per their statement to show 1) they say that they will provide an update every 7-10 business days, whether or not any progress occurs, and 2) any actual progress and details associated with such are provided.

I subscribe to the approach that if you measure something, you will learn and the process will change (either improve or go away - stop)…

it would be absolutely amazing if they documented how many tops they delivered each week.

The cost of $7k+ for a hardtop that requires assembly is excessive. Given the numerous seals, I could be mistaken, but I see a possibility of wind and water infiltration because the top is constructed in multiple sections rather than a single mold, especially during the winter months.
