I just ordered a white Anderson Composites hard top through BMC Extreme Sports. I was shocked that they no longer require any kind of payment at time of order. Payment is not required until your top goes into production typically 4 to 8 weeks before delivery. And even then, payment is only made after BMC contacts you and asks permission to make the payment. So, it costs nothing to place the order and reserve your place in the queue.

I know most folks dont want to wait or feel shafted, but the third hard top in this video is the Anderson. Personally looks like cheap plastic and not much quality. Not sturdy.

Well, that's some news!
I wonder if that's an Anderson policy, or BMC policy?
It wasn't clear to me who's policy that is but I came away from the discussion thinking it was AC's policy. BMC told me that when the lead time for AC tops went from 3-4 months to 6 months, the policy on payment changed to account for the long lead time. I recommend calling BMC and talking to Bruno if you want better details.

I don't know what video you are referring to but if it's one of the many ADV marketing videos I would take it with a huge grain of salt... ADV is, if nothing else, winning the marketing battle. The AC top is high quality fiberglass. There are several happy customers out there.

You mean you can put your order in without putting down al dime, then in two
Months or more they will contact you to put down money. At that time if adv hasn't yet started shipping you can cancel adv and go livewith the ac order. Wow that might be aimed at stealing adv customers.
I'm not gonna do that though, I want my adv top and believe in them and will wait.
I hope the start shipping because I do want a 1 piece.

Ug...influencers.....given the fact that people on this forum are begging for deliveries...and the ones they are delivering to are @$#%! influencers just gives me heartburn.

The people that are serious customers for your product are right here....give us the tops and let us be your influencers, by driving around and posting here about them!!!
People are begging for consistent and MEANINGFUL updates lol
I'm just so tired of like what Ford did at the beginning, being left in the dark. Over communicate, idc

Might I add a fifth but very important category to the ones he listed in the video?

5.) Availability/existence.

Is your top made of "Vaporware" or "Unobtanium"?
Does it even exist on the market yet?

No but I’m patient and not willing to spend just as much on cheap plastic. If it bites me later then lesson learned. But I’m trusting @ADV Fiberglass is gonna kick the competitors butts.

I do not believe they will ever ship a single unit. They took everyones money upfront and gave a delivery of q4 2022 and kept dragging it out faster and farther saying they were waiting for one thing each time. I ended up cancelling my order and going with Anderson Composites because they have a superior part and are actually shipping product. I almost think adv fiberglass needs to be reported to the BBB @ADV Fiberglass
If you don’t mind sharing, how is your Anderson Composite hard top? Quieter than the OEM?

The AC top is good. Quiet in the highway. Having my top to use in the last 5 months is worth more than waiting 20 months for an ADV top (if I didn't cancel). Winter is coming, and I am ready!

How about ADV at least explains what “in final assembly” means. It’s a simple question, likely a simple answer, and would go a long way for the customers.

ADV is "simply working through the final assembly process" - not "in final assembly". That could be a big difference - just saying.

Hopefully on final assembly means putting on hardware, motor for rear windshield wipet, clasps, and the sound dealing liner. Then to final quality control. Then released for packaging for shipment. Then shipping and notications to customers.
Let's hope November shipping starts Nov 1, and not. In novembrt... 30 days had november

I don't know what's worse. The trolls that haven't spent a dime and just want to stir the pot or the "day 1 order" saying ADV stole their money.

They have been very upfront with offering a refund. If you are unhappy with the wait, request a refund. Please request a refund, that moves my order up. Am I frustrated? Yeah. I'm not going to lose my mind over it. If the pain outweighs the reward, I'll request my refund. Right now, this looks like the most promising top out of all those available or soon to be available.

The only mistake they've made is continually updating shipping to next month, next month, etc... Once they realized this they stopped with those types of updates. Now they are in a pickle because people are demanding updates. They give an update and people complain about the update. If you want an update, call them. Go to their website and chat.

Supply chain issues are still real. All the big manufactures are still having issues sourcing some parts. And until you have all the parts to assemble a bunch of tops, other quality issues may not be visible. It's very likely this is what happened. Fixing that process takes time.

As far as all the money up front, that's makes complete sense with a new product. If they would have taken orders with $100 deposit, they would have had 10 times the orders they did. And then when they were produced and ready to be shipped most of those orders would have been canceled, because they didn't have the money to pay for it at the time. Then they would be in financial trouble with a ton of tops and no buyers. Ford had a ton of orders with $100 deposit. The dealerships I'm familiar with had a ton of those orders later canceled or didn't take delivery because they couldn't get financing or realized how much it actually cost.

As far as shipping the tops in May when they were not quite right. This forum alone has shown that would be a mistake. People would be up in arms that they waited 2 years for a top and it's garbage.

Oh, and you'll get your interest on your deposit when the price goes up. That's your investment. That's the main reason most people did the preorder before anyone saw a production top or saw any deliveries. The amount you saved from when the price went up. Some investments are good some are not. We're still waiting to see how this one turns out.

Now I'll grab my popcorn and continue to watch people lose their minds.
