A few weeks ago, started randomly, my bronco Bluetooth started to forget my phone. After about a week of this, my whole screen went black. It powers on with the logo screen, then shuts off, and the backup camera works, but beyond that its just black screen. The power-forward button reboot works, but doesn't fix anything. Disconnected the battery for a couple hours, but that didnt help anything either. radio works, but you can only change the station from the steering wheel controls.

Any ideas what could be causing this all of a sudden? 2023 with 60kmiles.
I've seen a few post, mostly related to the 12"screen, but not much as to a resolution.

Hi!

I have had the same trouble since start of december 2025. They changed the screen, module, and some wiring. I had an appointment today and they still weren't able to fix it. Almost 2 months later and my screen is still black. Back up camera works and radio also works with the controls on the stearing wheel. I have been without a screen and without bluetooth for almost 2 months now, please let me know if anyone knows how to fix this.

I had a similar problem on my '23. Intermittent blackouts eventually became permanent. Radio still functioned. Dealer replaced the APIM module due to it not accepting updates. After module was replaced, screen went black again. They saw damaged pins on back of the display and the coax cable, so both display and coax cable were replaced. It's been fine for the past 2 years.
Based on my experience, the display or connecting hardware may be the problem, but don't rule out a bad APIM module.

I'm not sure how something stable like dash wiring and components would get damaged pins randomly. weird. I may pull it all apart this weekend and see what I find, I'm not a fan of paying the dealer to play whack-a-mole with my money.

If some functions still work, such as your start-up screen and backup camera, I'd guess your screen is ok. If there are multiple connectors (for different functions) I suppose one could be bad. A wild guess would be it's a software or communication issue. Trouble codes might show up somewhere, or maybe a module software update would help.
An inexperienced Ford tech would just follow the procedures in the manual. Guessing again, they may start with codes and trying a module update. Beyond that, dash disassembly is required to replace components.... you could save some labor $$ if you took it in that way. Mine was done under warranty, so $$ wasn't an issue.

A post went up yesterday on upgrading to a 12" screen. It's a $2k+ upgrade. But check out the video there, it shows what's involved in getting to the screen and APIM module. Maybe give Infotainment a call and possibly get some free advise on how the system works. I'd ask about whether module software can be reloaded. They do take old 8" screens and modules for credit and could be a source for used parts if necessary.

Same exact thing happened on my ‘23. Dealer replaced the module under warranty. They had to order it, so they had my Bronco for a week.

yeah I thought about upgrading screens while I'm at it, you can definitely supply the parts cheaper than that kit, but the APIM module is the expensive piece for either one. Good install video!
