5-Star Tuning has officially released the tune for the Bronco raptor!

You can use discount code “Roach” to get 10% off your order.

If you didn’t see my Previous thread I posted a video explaining the tune and how it works to the best of my ability. SVT Performance also made a better video explaining the details of the tune. I absolutely love how this tune has changed my bronco and want to spread the word! 5-Star is not paying me or giving me any sort of kickback for posting about them, this is solely for awareness and so I can answer any questions yall have!

If you want to test it out I’ll be in Texas at the end of August for R/R Off-road Turf Wars and the Super Cell West in September!

5-Star Tuning kicks ass. I ran their towing tune on my 2010 Expedition and it turned it into a different truck. Shift points were WAY better, throttle response was great, economy actually improved, and zero negative effects have 100k+ miles.

They know what they're doing and turn out a solid tune.

It completely changed the driving experience. My tires are going to go bald quicker and my fuel economy is going to go down a little…but dang is it fun.

Passing in my Expedition in stock form was sketchy as anything as it tended to just bog the engine. After the tune it would drop a gear or two as quickly as I wanted and pulled beautifully even with a trailer. Never had a problem with either engine or transmission temps.

There are a lot of fly-by-night tuners out there but these guys really do their research and have a proven track record.

Hmmm, totally unclear in the "better video". If the PCM is being replaced then the PCM has not been cracked. Other folks have been doing this (PCM swap) for the Raptor for some time now. Maybe 5-Star or SVT can clarify.

The tuning itself also is not clear. You can get a "standard" tune without FDRS access but any custom tune requires FDRS access? So this then was some sort of custom tune? Also, not clear if the power figures are @ crank or wheels, I'm assuming wheel.

Lastly, I'm highly skeptical of the claims of +25hp & +25 ft lb from and intake only, with a tuned or stock vehicle. S&B does not provide ANY dyno results...

A plethora of follow on is needed here. Apologies for any potential/partial thread jack here, but the linked content sinmply demands additional information and answers.

All valid questions! I’ll do my best to answer.

The video title is absolutely misleading as they are replacing the PCM, not really “cracking” it. From talking to various tuners like goosetuned and 5 star they seem pretty confident it’s not getting cracked for a long time, but who knows.

FDRS is absolutely required. So before buying this I would have someone lined up that’s ready to flash the new PCM with FDRS since that’s really the first step of the process and the most “difficult”. As long as you have someone that can do that, the PCM swap is relatively painless. Numbers are to the wheels.

I agree the intake numbers seem a little high. K&N claims +17hp on the 2.7L CAI so it’s not an unreasonable number, but more than I’d expect. They also didn’t seem to have the CAI clear lid on so I’m not sure how that would affect things.

Thanks for the clarifications.

I've been saying for a very long time that Ford's claims that this PCM is basically uncrackable is valid and there is additional confirmation of that here.

I'll take contention with "absolutely misleading" and say mord accurately, "blatantly false with ill intent".
