2025 Bronco Hybrid Rumors

Motortrend also had an article a year ago claiming there would be a Bronco Sport Hybrid for 2023MY or 2024MY. Didnt happen for 2023, and 2024MY just got announced today. No hybrid to be found.

From a market perspective this is a really weird choice though. The bronco sport is built on a platform that can easily support hybrid or full electric. I can only assume that all the supply problems they are having with the mustang MachE, and the F150 lightning is preventing them from adding electric or hybrid options in their other lines.

One of my coworkers has a 4Xe and he loves it. He's only 12 miles from work, so can get to work and back on electrons, and only burns gas on the weekend.

This is exactly why I'd buy one.

I would guess it has something to do with the other vehicle they have on the same platform with a hybrid option.

Yes, he is because the minority are independent thinkers.
Most jeep and bronco owners buy nothing more than an “image”. A mask to pretend they are interesting people and look cool. Then the hybrid or electric crowd (who’s super popular now) just worship their EPA Demi-gods and smugly talk greater mpg and enviro virtue signal… I personally think it’s because they are just huge fans of child labor and The work of the artisan minors in the Congo but if we can get more mpg out of a giant brick on 35’s let the mine dwellers work!!!
For those who want to use their vehicles off grid or on the rocks the idea of all the additional weight, complexity and batteries.. well it’s not attractive at all.
There are plenty of options out there to hybrid why can’t they leave Jeeps and broncos out of it.
Want fuel economy? Buy a Prius.

If you don't want one, don't buy one. Why would you want to prevent others from having a choice?

Gladiator has been out for what, 3 years now. I've seen one (1) with the roof off ever.

The only Bronco I have ever seen with the roof off is mine. And they are everywhere, way more on the road than Gladiators.

If this is a plug-in hybrid, it makes no sense. Full hybrid or none at all, there will be no return on the added up-charge financially speaking unless you keep it 10 years. Added cost for my SIL to go plug in hybrid on her Corsair was around $7K and only had 27 miles of range. Nope!

I was at a owner/Ford customer event last year where they asked about every aspect of the Bronco. What I liked, what I didn't, issues, etc.

I recall them specifically asking about a hybrid and if I would be interested in that type of vehicle. This wasn't a 3rd party event, this was Ford marketing, operations, managers, and engineers from MI. Certainly felt like it was on their radar and their long range plans.

You'd think "overlanders" would love the 2.4kw or 7.2kw inverter.
Before you cry about weight, the powerboost did increase gvwr by 350lbs for hybrid.

Looks like we're getting a hybrid version in 2025 with a face-lift and enhanced drivetrain options as soon as 2024. The expect the Bronco PHEV to be powered by the 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine and backed by a 10-speed modular hybrid transmission. I think that Ford is answering a question nobody asked. For that matter, I believe the big 3 have WAY over played their hand rushing to electrify every model. For example, Lightnings are becoming statues at Ford dealerships. It's as if they're oblivious to the rumblings of consumers; they don't go far enough, they take too long to charge and they're too heavy. Not to mention too expensive. Ford's Job 1 ought to be to make enough to meet demand of the current MY Broncos as trouble and recall free as possible. Something they have failed at so far. Just my 2 cents.

No use for it. Will it come with fake turbo sounds? Will those sounds be subscription based? I have always said. Easy as in an ice vehicle has been done. Current hybrid or electric vehicles are a bandaid. This is not the end product. I don’t think we know what it will be yet. But it’s not a 30 mile range hybrid or sitting at a Target for hours charging.
Maybe full service stations will make a come back and an attendant will perform a battery swap. Like my lawn mower where a battery makes sense.

EVs and plug-in hybrids don’t need “gas” stations nearly as much. It’s charged when you leave, it charges at your destination. A supercharger station will fast-charge when you need it. The time lost at a supercharger station vs gas station is gained back in the amount of time saved by not needing to go to a gas station as often.

further, mining for batteries is a one-time event. Batteries can be refurbished and recycled a lot better than oil.

also gas and ice will never go away. But it’s a better, cleaner mode of transportation for a siszable chunk of humanity.
