Refresh usually coincides with new body stamping tooling. Once the tooling wears, there will be an update.
Guessing Toyota tooling does not wear then. Ford not going change nothing major tell 2030 jeep does not even have plans to change nothing on the Wrangler anytime soon and tooling last for years .

Have you seen how many Wrangler Unlimiteds there are out there? Don't tell me that all, or even the majority of, people who own one bought it to take it off road. Not to mention that the purpose they bought theirs for is none of your business, so why gatekeep?

Also if you're trying to say that the option of having the instant torque of an electric motor supplementing the bottom end of an ICE doesn’t have more utility than pure ICE then there's probably just no reasoning left here.
First of all, no need to be nasty.

Second, it's 20-25 miles on electric with the extra weight and reduced off-road ability. Is this really a win? It's more of a novelty than true functionality, unless you're driving only short distances daily. And, sure, some people are only driving 20 miles a day. Pure electric would be make more sense vs. the short range they offer. We're probably a few years away from that in this segment of vehicles. If this is a first foray into the space, then so be it.

Instant torque of an electric motor with a Jeep gives it 0-60 in 6.5-7.5 seconds. That's hardly fast. Fast for a Jeep, sure, but fast for what? Is it really needed to spend a lot of extra money for avg. acceleration, anyway?

We have a Mach-E and love it. I have an electric vehicle on order. Sure, they're super fast, but I'll get the same speeding ticket as anyone else. I wish hydrogen would be advanced more as it's a better long-term solution environmentally than electric, which really gives us a bigger carbon footprint than ICE.

There's something for everyone. I'd sooner get an ICE Jeep than the 4xe. That's just me.

However,

I've not studied the Jeep hybrid, so I don't know exactly what type of hybrid it is. But whether it's a plug in hybrid, or a hybrid where the engine charges the battery doesn't make much of a difference in my book.

Either type adds weight and complexity for not much gain. And the cost to have a hybrid in the Bronco line adds cost to all trim levels.

I don't think Ford has stated what hybrid system will be used.
they should go full electric over hybrid for this type of vehicle. I agree with your sentiments on the Jeep 4xe.

Anyone know if the 2024 model will be refresh? Hybrid? New features? I know the 2023 hasn’t come out yet but it appears very few changes except for colors.
My buddy bought a hybrid Maverick and he gets 40 mpg.
Give me the small diesel! In a 2 door of course. (probably not going to happen)
I bet it would come close to that.

2024, 2025 or 2026 whenever refresh be, I expect if ford follows pattern of being "true" to the name, it will end up being a unibody crossover style, primary FWD with limited AWD. About as much tribute to the Bronco line as a Mustang Mach E is a tribute to the Mustang line.
The Mach - E was never intended to be a “tribute” to the original nameplate. They are using it simply for marketing. And it seems to be working. So good for them.

I just don't see the point of an off-road hybrid. You get 20 -30 miles of electric range, then you are carrying a heavy lead (er... lithium) block as dead weight on the trail. Maybe in an OB mall crawler, but not in the 'Squatch trim, or BD, BL, etc.

The Wrangler/Bronco is a heavy brick with big tires on it. It will have shitty gas mileage. It's heavy so it doesn't break on the trail.

Call a spade a spade and get on with life. Adding a battery and electric motor to it is sort of silly.
Just to give you an idea of how useful 20-30 miles of electric will get you, my car gets me 35-40 miles of electric, I charge at home and at work for free.
I live 15 miles away from work but I go home for lunch so my commute is 60 miles per day.
I don't use any gas during a regular week and my daily commute costs me about $1 in electricity.
An 8 gallon gas tank can last me up to 9 months.

In the 98k miles my car has, I've used the gas engine for around 13k.

The Bronco doesn't need a big battery to break down on the trail, it can do that all by itself especially with the gas pumps crapping out, and tie rods snapping like dry twigs.

I off-road my Wrangler but honestly, it still spends 95% of the time on the road being a regular car, even if it's towing my boat.

I always liked the idea of the 4-Cylinder Cummins Diesel mated to a Manual trans. like the 2004 Bronco prototype was teasing? But hey, just glad we are here talking about it all!!

Tremor in 2024. King Ranch in 2025. Eddie Bauer in 2026 to commemorate 30th anniversary of last Eddie Bauer.
My Dealer told me a KR model is in development.

My use case and experience is very similar to JBlanco. I was an early 2021 Bronco reservation holder but gave up due to delays and bought a Wrangler 4XE; 3 months from order to delivery. The 4XE has been a pleasant surprise and I hope Ford offers something similar in the near future.

My main reasons for getting the 4XE: Acceleration (0-60 in ~6 sec), ride quality/handling (the weight of the batteries lower the center of gravity and provide stability) and fuel efficiency.

One thing that hasn't been discussed is the e-Save option on the 4XE. e-Save allows you to use the ICE exclusively saving the battery charge for when you want the torque off-roading; you can also use it as an inefficient way to charge the battery as you drive if needed.

The other thing to consider is if you're not in full electric mode, the 4XE runs as a mild hybrid for ~50 miles netting you approximately 30MPG during that time. Once the battery is completely drained, I still get around 17MPG or equivalent to the Bronco.

All that being said, my dream build is a two door mansquatch if Ford can get their act together.

I don't think there will be a refresh until a MY26. a 2026 refresh would be in line with a 60 year anniversary so might sound logical. They'll add models like a hybrid or PHEV (or both) possibly by 2024 as others have noted and maybe just add a few features now that they've collected data... like rear seat cupholders and better dome lights for the rear haha. 2024 will probably be the year broncos will be available readily on the lot for purchase assuming the predictions that supply chain issues should get better by next year.
Or be like the 2023 4Runner 40th Edition, Bold New Stickers, same model as the previous year.

If Ford follows their usual pattern the mid-generation refresh will happen 2025 (give or take a year or two).

No idea what it will contain, but a hybrid is a possibility. The Wrangler 4xe is now the best-selling plug-in electric hybrid, and no doubt Ford will want a piece of that pie.

They key will be to see if anything comes of these F-150/Ranger/Maverick “Thunder” vehicles. We don’t know what those are, but good chance any hybrid power plant Ford comes up with for the Ranger will be well suited for the Bronco.
Jeep is no where near the top selling plugin hybrid. Close to the bottom. Not likely Ford will offer the Bronco in a hybrid in the next few years

The New Edge Mustangs are fucking awful-Lets square out the body but not touch the roof line that was carry over. Or add a bunch of Jc Witney scoops and other BS to an already terrible design.

The New Edge design that Ford had in the late 1990 did not age WELL at all. It was short lived, thank god.
I'm not sure what you mean by Square out? Did you forget about the honda civic/brick-shaped foxbodies?

The King Ranch and Big Horn type names always seemed super cringe to me; but I guess cringe sells sometimes.

If you couldn’t tell I’m not a fan of the 99-04 restyling. The execution of it was terrible-thus my point about the roof styling not changing and clashing with the rest of the car.

I liked the Fox body styling.

Honestly i've never noticed that before, I love those designs. Perhaps it helps that my 2002 is a Convertible! I try to keep the roof down as much as possible ;)
