This was inevitable, as Ford moniters this forum. Next will be an OTA update to the MY21. Glad i stuck with the Wildtrak.

We all made our choices on which trim level we got. Not all options are available on all trims. I wish they were, but they’re not. My point was that Ford is not “screwing” anyone by not allowing them to unlock a feature that’s not available on the trim level they chose. If anything, you’re screwing Ford when you unlock features that weren't Included on your vehicle. I have no problem with people doing it, and I wouldn’t feel bad about “cheating” ford out of a few free upgrades, but it’s not like anybody got cheated by Ford If they did in fact make it impossible to unlock a feature not available on that trim.
I guess the question is why is Sport mode locked on Badlands and FE when it's on every other trim? Why aren't all the GOAT modes available on the top trims when it's already programmed and on the vehicle?

Can’t help you out there. If it were up to me, there wouldn’t even be trim levels, everything would be a La cart.

so is it cheating Ford if I buy a Base and add aftermarket leather heated seats? or BL takeoffs? or any other upgrade not available on a given trim that we could have just opted for another trim and received direct from Ford? Ford should wise up and give the GOAT modes (and many of the other trim specific doodads) a paywall so they can be added and not fight the "hackers" or if they think it's a safety issue then they shouldn't have the other modes loaded on vehicles they think can't/shouldn't use them.

Damn, not liking where this is going. Don't blame it just on the forum, there is a bunch of YouTube videos showing how to do this also. I'm pretty sure it's still there, Ford has just done a better job of burying it. Come on Forscan rock stars, you're better than the Ford rockstars!

I don’t disagree, I just think it’s funny that people are acting like Ford is screwing them because they’re not able to unlock shit that they didn’t buy.

I believe Ford was trying to give give the upper level trims their own identity. BL as a rock crawl beast and WT as the back road/road king. I always thought Ford should have given BL the sport mode but limited the Baja mode to the WT and FE. As to why FE wasn’t given all 8 GOAT modes is anyone’s guess.
Like BL owners and the lack of sport mode I wished my WT was available with Rick crawl mode….I mean it’s the most expensive and listed as the top trim and comes with 4.7 gears and Sasquatch standard. And I must say it’s a bit irritating that since the ability to add Sport mode to a BL and Baja mode to an OBX the comments about the WT being an unnecessary trim became more prevalent.
To me the use of Forscan for Sport mode, or Baja mode when people were forced to make a decision (give and take) on trim level and pay for those options is the equivalent of someone paying for Mid pkg and enabling ACC, heated steering wheel, wireless charging free of charge, while others paid thousands for those options.
There might be some that would feel the same way if the WT and other trims were able to activate Rock Crawl mode thru Forscan. The BL would lose some of its identity and people would get a major option for free that BL purchasers paid for.
I guess it just comes down to who’s ox is being gored. I wasn’t going to lose any sleep either way, but it does seem a bit of a slight if Ford continues to allow people to add for free what others have paid for.

Totally different. Those all require hardware as well. All GOAT modes are already on every trim, just some of them are locked depending on trim.

I don't see why anyone would care. But then again I never factored GOAT modes into my purchase. Can't rock crawl mode be added to other trims? I'm honestly not sure but I don't see why not. The only issue is the sway bar, but that should be disconnected manually on any other trim if someone is on a trail.

The Badlands' identity is the off-roading halo trim: the Bronco equivalent to the Wrangler Rubicon. It can rock crawl with or without the GOAT mode. The main features are the sway bar disconnect and washout interior.

Note: I've never used Forscan and am only familiar with its capabilities because of this site.

Semi-related: Ford could make a fortune enabling GOAT modes through Sync for like $10. Phone microtransaction-style.

Really hope someone figures this out.
My first reaction is this is just a giant FU from Ford to their customers. Absolutely no reason to block this change.
They wouldn't have specific models with specific features if everyone can crack the code and get it for free.🤷

Like I said, I haven’t/wouldn’t lose any sleep either way, but software and firmware and purchased capability has a monetary value as well as hardware.
I would relate some uses of Forscan to hackers……let’s say someone buys a premium subscription with Dish TV and with that subscription they get 250 channels and a cable box for $180 per month. Let’s say another Dish customer purchases a basic pkg with the same box but only 75 channels for $49 per month. If someone were to come along and hack the code to the additional 175 premium channels, and allow those that only paid $49 to access those channels is that fair? Are the persons that paid $180 per month for what others are getting for $49 not harmed? Is dish not being harmed? I certainly wouldn’t blame dish if they were to shut that scam down and force people pay for the premium service they are using.
Now, if someone wants to use Forscan to change their dash light colors or eliminate double nanny horns then that’s a different story.

The average customer would be overwhelmed with all the options, but the people that know what they really want (many of us here) would be on cloud nine.

I tried to warn him. He was a valued contributor, and he will be missed.
Whoa... Hope you're not implying it was me!

It just started after the Raptor reveal... I think he's still out there... Watching... Waiting...

No problem at all with that when different features actually involved different hardware. (Like trying to put a mode that uses lockers and SBD on a trim that doesn't have that hardware.)

But there has never been any rational reason that Sport mode shouldn't be available on the Badlands and FE. All the hardware is there. Disabling it is simply removing a feature for no other reason than to remove a feature.
