bottom line is....with a small tank 2 door, you CAN'T REALLY fill up at half a tank. Yes, you WILL have to gas up all the time if you do that. Its not rocket science.
Exactly filling at half a tank for all intensive purposes makes your tank half it's actual size. It frankly makes no sense to do so. I'm not sure what long term storage has to do with it either.

I did miss my F150 and Excursion road trip range on a recent 1,100 mile road trip. That's with a 4dr. Smaller tank would not be ideal.

Yes. It's annoying. One of the things I really hated about my Mustang, I got about 320 miles on a tank. The Bronco... gets about 320 on a tank.

Turbo 4-banger, and it gets a whole 1 mpg better than the V8 powered pony.

I hated driving the giant whale of an Expedition I was stuck with for 18 months while my Bronco was delayed over and over again, but at least it had a decent size gas tank.

It's kinda like the old saying: "six of one, half dozen of the other". I actually top my F-150 off every other day even tho it's between 1/2 and 3/4. If I wait until it goes to 1/4 or less of a tank it depresses me to see the total $$$$$.

My other vehicle is a '96 F150 4x4 with the 351 and the single 18.5 gallon tank, so I'm used to it. The bronco at least gets more than 10-13 mpg lol.

Sellout
The tank is a deal breaker
Game changer

take my money kind of thing

just trying to make a cliche gumbo to fit in….
If the tank was double in size someone would bitch it takes $250 to I’ll it up

this place is funny
It’s something incredibly petty every single day of the week…….lol

pretty good entertainment though.

The tank size is a little small but is easy to manage, at least for someone on the East Coast. I lived out west where gas stations can have a little more distance between them it would probably be more annoying.

Doesn't bother me at all, I'd be OK with it being even smaller. Still a lot more range than motorcycles which I've done long trips on.

A lower trim 2.3 2dr getting 20-22 is going to have more range than a higher trim V6 4dr getting 14-16 anyway, so your configuration plays a role.

How high of a trim do I need to get bad gas mileage in my 2.7 v6?

Just asking for a friend who has a v6 bronco hardtop, lux package, package tow, and Hoss 2.0 suspension.

My question is how the hell are y'all gettin 20+ mpg? I haven't seen over 18.5 and I never drive over 70 mph.
I can give you a simple formula to get higher gas mileage. Run the lightest rims and tires you can, reduce ground clearance, and run a low restriction exhaust.

22-23 mpg, at 75 mph average speed for over 4 hours (including gas stops and bathroom breaks).

I don't have a problem with the tank. I fill up twice a week, with my weekly driving.

I guess I am just used to bigger gas thanks and or much better gas mileage. I use 89 octane and according to the fuel MPG monitor I am averaging 22.2- which is pretty good for a 2.7 Sas. It's just after every commute to and from work it burns 1/4 tank, which seems like so much.
The fuel burn seems too much because it is a lot, but I’m a bit confused at your shock at this?

The bronco is a big box and isn’t at all aerodynamic, so it creates a ton of drag. The vehicle also sits high, so that creates even more drag beneath the vehicle. Then add the ties which have a larger diamiter, which means more rolling resistance. Last, Bronco is heavy; even the 2 Dr Badlands is 5K lbs. All of these things equal poor gas mileage.

So, this brings up questions not for the Bronco, but towards you, as you’re the least common denominator in the equation since all that I’ve pointed out is basic physics and should come as a surprise to anyone.

Bronco is an off roader, so not ideal for a highway commuter. Your commute is pretty long, mine is less than 5 miles round trip into the office for the 1-2 days per week I actually go in. I will use my Bronco (when it gets here in a month or so) to go camping and get to trailheads. My wife’s Range Sport is the road trip vehicle, so basically, a Bronco is a toy. If you’re trying to use it for anything other than playing in dirt on trails, you’re accepting a lot of compromises.

I get your practice of keeping the gas tank full; it’s actually very smart, but yes, you’ll be doing this much more in a vehicle that gets less than 20mpg and that’s just something you’ll either grow to accept, or maybe it’s time to either use as intended, or look to sell or trade and get something that better fits your life.

As in most things; can’t have it all.

As the person above noted, many Broncos are pretty heavy, which was one consideration in how I built my Bronco. I wanted to keep weight down (adding lightness) to keep some semblance of performance. My 2 door was not 5k lbs, I managed to configure the 2 door 2.7 Bronco delivered with lux and tow packages at 4416 lbs. I think that the lightest you can order is about 4200 lbs.
