Outstanding work all around! As others have said, much better than Ford’s offering, and uniquely yours. Hope to see it at a northeast Bronco meet somewhere some day.
Finally got the grille painted, at a local shop that the Ford dealer uses. I wanted more contrast with Area 51 body paint, so I asked for “Ford matte black” (like Black Diamond and Base grilles). It came back darker than I expected- more of a deep satin black like the Outer Banks’s grille.

Great post and pictures! I appreciate the detailed write-up from a fellow 2-door MT Bronco driver, as I‘m planning a cross-country trek. You did that trip right- taking the scenic route, enjoying nature’s work.
I’ve experienced the same with hi/low headlight dimming- when the vehicle senses...
New Ford Bronco: $60,000.
Memories for life: Priceless!
…and this is just the beginning. Great post and pictures!
Our first Ford was the “clubhouse” for many adventures my son and I went on. So of course he was my wingman checking the first new Bronco near us, and approval was unanimous.
Enjoy...
That looks terrific- it really ties the whole vehicle together. If I have one minor gripe about Bronco styling, it’s that there are too many textures and shades of black, white and gray on some models. Your work fixes that, and I hope Ford adds color-matched wheels as an option.
Hillsborough, Somerset County- middle of New Jersey.
Grew up in Holland Township, Hunterdon County.
Took delivery of my 2-door, MT Big Bend on March 27.
Took the wife out to qualify on Bronco’s manual transmission. She nailed it in one try. She doesn’t love driving stick, but admitted that this is by far the easiest manual to drive out of my last three vehicles.
Looks like I have my road trip co-pilot!
I looked all over New Jersey at AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, Pep Boys, etc. and NO ONE had the 3M press-in-place adhesive, and no one could order it. I presume it's out of production, and only available by resellers.
Like the above posters, I used the 3M tape on my plastic 3d-printed script...
I used an eBay seller (still available) offering the script logo in a matte black finish:

I like the contrast of matte black on a lighter color like my Area 51, and it might look good on your carbonized gray.
No adhesive is include, so I used 3M black...
Just after reading this thread, what do I see but an old Bronco in what looks like the Eddie Bauer trim:
Not my thing, but I think they did a good job with the 6G one, without going wild on new parts.
This. Add to that the cost of registration and insurance (at least in New Jersey) and I don’t think I could ever save enough fuel to justify a second DD- even a clunker. I did, though, keep my 17-year old Jeep around to absorb the punishment (weather, bad roads, bad drivers) of my daily commute...
I think the Bestop is the best-looking option for the four door:
- fastback top is sportier IMO than the stock four-door “covered wagon” look
- the black twill provides a nice contrast (vs. MIC gray) to the Area 51 body.
Nice action shots!
Loaded my BB 2-door with several huge (and some smaller) boxes of stuff for Goodwill. With the seats folded down, it has a respectable cargo area, at least as much as my old Jeep.
