Bringing this post back from the dead since it happened to me this morning for the first time. Its a semi-regular occurrence in the Navigator as well, all the nice Lincoln-specific noises go away and are replaced by the corporate Ford chimes.
I've heard this theory before but I can't seem to...
As best as I can tell, the part number should be M2DZ-19980-D, at least for vehicles with heated steering wheels and rear defroster on the hardtop. It's not inexpensive.
Wish I had looked at mine to see what the non-temp-display model part number was when I had it apart to install the auto...
That's certainly fair, but I think I'd see what the aftermarket offers before tying to put lipstick on those pigs. I really can't get over how poorly executed those are, when the rest of the vehicle looks so damn good.
This has me thinking, if there's room in between the regular Bronco hardtop interface plates and the top itself, it wouldn't be terribly difficult to cut a bracket out of plate that sits on top of it on each side and then slot a length of rectangular hss (say, 0.75" x 1.5" x 0.125") to fit, or...
The margin for doing damage by overfilling is certainly much smaller than underfilling in most engines, but we're not talking being half a quart high and grenading the engine here.
@Jon_chimpo speaks the truth. If it's an occasional-use thing, sure, but if they're going to be in and out of it daily, I would not consider the 2 door.
Sincerely,
Someone who carted two kids around in a two door vehicle before the Bronco. It wasn't fun.
I've used 19 as a general simplex calling frequency, however if you're going offroading somewhere or just generally spending a lot of time in a location, it's very much worth it to look up the local repeater freqs and tones. You'll reach a lot farther and (at least around here) there are...
The true mark of a soon-to-be 6th gen Bronco owner, having a pile of stuff in the garage waiting on a vehicle!
What size/offset wheel did you wind up going with? Looking to replace the squatch goodyears with 35x11.5s sometime in the near-ish future.
Good to know, that dealership isn't too far off the beaten path from work.
Still need to order mine through Flip, wanted it on the B-pillar instead of the door, so I didn't order it from the factory.
Just FYI you can use smaller options for the mirror locations, I went with SSC2 Pros with the combo lens since I wanted something lower profile. Have not experienced any additional wind noise in this location, and I may or may not have had it up to ~85mph on this morning's commute.
