A center differential is for all wheel drive vehicles. All wheel drive is for 4 wheel drive on the street, so just like the front and rear need a differential to allow inside and outside tires to turn different speeds in a corner, the center needs a differential so the front tires can turn a...
Never. White letters out on a 4x4 screams mall crawler. The rocks and ruts of going off road rub the side of the tire and wear on the lettering, and the white lettering gets scuffed up and it looks bad, so for off roading we never put the white lettering out.
And there you go.....the Cayenne was so much fun...you could have driven in the mountains in a Honda or a Ford Edge, but the Cayenne was more fun. Same with the Bronco and having lockers or not. No, you don't need a Porsche, and you don't need lockers, but both are fun to use in what they were...
From early on I've been trying to find out the size and spline count of the M190 and M210 front axles. This is the only thing I have found, and unless it's a typo it should be conclusive. This link is for the Spicer upgraded axles and diffs for the new Bronco.

Kinda sorta. Traction control is not a full replacement for a locker, but it goes a long way to help. According to the owners manual, traction control is not activated in low range, so for slower technical stuff a locker would be needed.
Are you going to offer a bumper without all the pockets for lights? What about all of us real off road users who don't care about a ton of lights? I want a sleek and smooth good looking bumper, that looks good and appropriate with no added lights (or maybe two). Is there such a thing? I want to...
Have you gone down there and talked to the general manager? You need to do this, and expect them to keep their word. You must talk to them and not give up. Haven't read the whole thread so don't know what you have done.
Yes, the only Jeep Wrangler that came with factory lockers was the Rubicon. The only 4Runner with a locker is the TRD package. Toyota Land Cruisers lockers are an option. So, yes, plenty of off road designed trucks come without lockers. It is standard operating procedure for Wranglers to go into...
Bear with me, and I'll dive into an explanation. What is called a differential, which is the ring and pinion and other gears that redirect the power/spin of the driveline to the axles and then to the wheels, also does what is called differentiation, which is allowing the inside and outside...
I'd still like better info from folks who already have their Broncos. What app will coordinate with the factory set up. Also, I'm not sure what exactly comes with what package. I'm getting Badlands, but no mid/high/lux package.
There is a thread about who's going to King of the Hammers in the Off Road Racing and Competition section. I'll be there the whole time, from early before racing starts. I'm a tech inspector so will be in the Tech Tent most of the week. Then Wed, Thurs, Fri I'll be doing inspections for...
The axle size and spline count (more spline count is also larger axle shaft diameter) aren't dependent on the gear ratio, but the spline count of the side gears in the differential. Both the M190 and M210 have 29 spline axle shafts. It is yet to be learned if the axles are exactly the same, most...
I didn't find the forward camera very useful. It is so wide angle that the proportions were off so badly that it was basically useless. Everything looked flat and no distance perspective, so it was pointless, in my opinion. This was from Off Roadeo, might get more familiar with it when I use it...
You won't need to as the Badlands already comes with decently low gears. Just in case you do want to change, there are lower ratio gears sets in the Ford Bronco dealer accessory catalog.
I use Android, and figured I'd use my tablet until the Bronco gets here. I've never driven a car new enough to be able to put Nav on the screen, just used my phone. Will be something to learn. I like the Trail Report feature in onX, which I guess GAIA doesn't have. It's useful, along with All...
I need to finally get an off road map app to do some trip planning. Trying to decide between onX or GAIA. I don't have the Bronco yet but would want it to work easily when I get the Bronco. For you folks that have your Broncos, what have you learned? What are you doing? Any insights?
A second tank would have to go behind the rear axle where that big assed muffler is. Already some aftermarket exhausts remove that muffler, which would create some space.
