Thanks, you are making my point. And again, BTW, I'm not trying to be difficult, just factual. This has nothing to do with DOT. There is nothing DOT in what you presented. You presented the state of UT safety inspection protocol. Safety inspections aren't even required, however this document...
Again, sorry to nitpick, we don't have to go down this road. I believe it is an assumption on your part that the DOT approves things like you are saying. That's why I asked to point out the law, not an assumption. I'm simply resisting an assumption, because folks read these assumptions on the...
They may be limiting length to minimize over extending the CV axles. Makes sense for the front, but no such limitation for the rear. Wish we knew if the factory upgraded CV axles had more usable angle, and how much they cost. The Bronco would also benefit from more rear travel in faster stuff...
The aluminum body shocks have a much thicker top and bottom cap, and are held in with a relatively small snap ring. So, the overall length of the shock body must be longer to get the same shaft travel. I'd sure like to see them figure it out to increase travel.
I wonder about bump stops on the...
This is a pretty interesting question. There are so many ECU's in a modern car (can be close to 100 separate ECU/chips) and it takes some power to have them awake. It's easy to see why there would be a timer to put the car to sleep, so to speak. This brings up the question can the timer for when...
Sorry, I don't think you understood my question. I'm not asking why DOT made them illegal, if that's what you think. I'm asking on what basis, what law, are you considering them to be illegal. Who says they are illegal? What law is referenced? What law are you breaking if you run a sticky tire...
So, who's bringing their Bronco? I won't have mine yet, I'll be driving this XJ. Will be in the Tech Tent up until Wed, then Wed-Fri doing contingency tech.
Too much trouble most of the time. Takes a couple minutes to hook up and unhook. Not a problem to pull in somewhere and unhook just to drive to lunch. Also, it's about the length. Many RV spots don't have room for the coach and the trailer and park the towed vehicle in the spot. A trailer is a...
Agree, but my question was why are they illegal? I get not wanting to run them on the street, they are soft expensive tires. I just resist all of this "not legal" stuff unless someone can quote the law that says they are not legal. Just like beadlocks, no such law exists. Not trying to be...
Hmm.....I ordered a 2.3 specifically because of flat towing and having the vacuum brakes, since my Air Force One brake system applies vacuum to the booster. Was thinking about changing to the 2.7 thinking that the electric boost would stay on all the time, but looks like it goes to sleep. I was...
I remember that spot. They wanted to demonstrate getting a lot of air under that rear tire. I was in an OBX with no sway bar disconnect, so I used front locker only and Turn Assist and did a front dig around and hardly any rear tire air. They didn't want me to do it, but relented, since they...
It's possible. Problem is potential wind. If wind comes up it can be pretty strong and can/will blow down the tent. OK if you can tie the tent to your vehicle, use vehicle as a shield, but not ok if you're off in your vehicle and the wind is blowing hard. Might not have wind, but you never know...
The factory dealer accessory catalog shows different ring and pinion ratios for the M210 FDU, so gear ratios can be replaced. I think what he meant was that there is no diff cover, so you can't pull the axles out and change the gears. The whole unit must be removed from the truck and then split...
