Most FDU failures are caused by a leak. They don’t hold a lot of fluid, so any loss can lead to a failure pretty quickly if not caught fast enough.

Yeah a large majority of them will likely have this outcome. They’ve had this same issue before on other models in the past and I never had one that actually failed the bolt inspection.

They likely won’t remove it because it’s a safety recall. I asked them to and this was their response:

Axle tube is the only thing Ford has specs for. We do not service/disassemble the FDU.

The module alignment is very touchy for these sometimes. The vertical alignment has to be within +/- 3 degrees, and the horizontal alignment can only be done with a scan tool.

You’re better off contacting the company from the OP, BoostedGreyGooseDesigns, to see if they’ll make you the individual aftermarket harness they have for others. The correct Ford harness would be the entire dash harness.
