I agree. In my experience "first edition" cars don't really have a positive vibe.. due to the "don't buy a first year model they haven't worked out the bugs yet" thinking. Don't know if its warranted or not but shopping for used cars I always try and target a 2nd-3rd year or later model if...
I have never found myself saying "dang.. this thing has too much power" and if the 2.7 is only $1k~$2k add (since you are already getting the auto) I would get that with no looking back..
Horsepower is like money and computer memory.. no such thing as too much.
When I was shopping for my truck.. a rare combination.. I had to expand my search nationwide. For whatever reason it seemed that the AZ dealers were the worst at adding $2~$3k of "mandatory" adds.. like window tint and underbody protection blah blah blah. Obviously I didn't talk with all of...
I actually use rear locker for sport mode full throttle launches on the street.
With TCS fully off the 2.7 will light up the rears no problem. Without e-locker it’s a long single line .. with e-locker it is 2 short lines. Also is fun doing donuts.
since the truck is 4x2 the e-locker helps on...
In my eye the stock proportions look best on 4-door with 35's while the 2-door on 33's.
For some reason the 2-door 35's look a little stuffed and puffy.. like they would rub. I'm sure they won't rub it just looks a little much.
Add a 2" lift though and then 2-door 35's and 4-door 37's look...
Thanks! I did see that but was afraid it was just the "controls" .. like a place holder or the switch blanks or something and not the actual cruise control. Or even worse some mis-print or wording that was accidently carried over from one of the higher packages.
Glad to hear its legit!
Now...
So dumb question here.. I have seen that the "adaptive cruise control" is not available on the base.. but regular cruise control is included right? I am not a fan of adaptive anyway
I think I saw someone earlier in the thread mention it does but I went through the list of features on the Ford...
My understanding is the 2.7 actually takes advantage of the higher octane rating bone stock. Not all engines do.. I seem to remember reading an article online somewhere.. they tested HP in stock vehicles just using different octane fuels to see what would happen.
The 2.7 actually had higher HP...
I have 33's with 3.73 gears and the 2.7EB 10speed in my truck and it weighs similar to a 2-door bronco. It doesn't struggle at all. Perfect mix of in town acceleration and 80mph cruising. This is the exact combo I want on my Bronco.
As for the 2.3 I don't know.. Maybe someone with a Ranger can...
My 2018 F150 with 2.7EB and 10-speed trans only has 40k miles but has had zero issues and is very fun to drive.
I think the bronco with that same combo will have no problems.. except maybe speeding tickets..
Does look cool for sure
But after having owned several lifted vehicles with 37"s all I see now when I look at that pic are driveline vibrations, tires that never balance, alignment issues, worse ride, worse gas mileage and worse acceleration :)
33's for me!
I agree..
Base w/2.7EB has everything I need except 2 options in question..
- tow package
- rear locking diff
3.73 with 33's the 2.7 EB and 10-speed are perfect on my ~4,300lb truck. Similar weight to a 2-door base bronco.
My current power to weight in a short wheelbase, open top, no door...
I was fine with waiting till late 2021 at earliest.. even late 2022 is fine.
I love my current F150, am just starting to build a new house (minimum 12 months using all excess cash) and that gives a chance for the introduction euphoria dust to settle.. so no reservation here.
As soon as I see...
Ahh, yeah that makes sense. I bet that thing pulls hard, would love to see it in action.
I will say a bronco with the 2.7 with base skinny tires will have lots of one wheel burnouts in 2H.
Wish they offered the rear e-locker as a standalone option on the base..
Wow.. twin turbo Coyote in an RCSB.. that thing must be an animal!
Hopefully you go the 4x4 because I don't see how else you could get 900HP to the ground in a 4x2.. I can't seem to keep mine from spinning and it is bone stock!
After owning trucks and Wrangler with 35's and 37's, on the Bronco 2-door its 33's for me also.
It is the sweet spot of on-road performance and everyday drivability with plenty of off-road capability for my use through past experience.
Especially on a short wheelbase 2-door.
So base with...
I had my heart set on a coyote in my '18 RCSB 4x2.
Then I drove identical configured trucks one with V8 and one with 2.7EB. Everything was the same all the way down to gear ratios.
The 2.7 felt like what I expected the V8 to feel like, nice low end torque, zero turbo lag. If you had earplugs...
I'm loving my truck, which by the way is close to the listed weight of a 2-door Bronco, has the 2.7EB and 10-speed with 3.73 gears and 33's.. you guys will love love love the performance! but I digress..
I love my truck so waiting is no problem, I didn't put in a reservation as I am happy now...
2 door to replace my 2018 reg cab short bed F150. yes they still make those! I get asked that everyday in parking lots when someone see it.
If I can live with a 3 seater I can definitely live with a 4(5?) seater .
