    I wash mine out. it gets dusty / muddy. I don't let the water pool in the floor boards. And use a controlled spray so it doesnt get under the front foot wells, infotainment, controls, et cetera. wife managed to spill 22 ounces of beer out of 12 oz can over the summer and hosing was required...

    That also prevents that whole rock "sliding" element. Should be clear to all that a straight underside helps from getting hung up.

    don't worry about the tailgate slide out. Drop 700 pounds on your roof rack if you want to be concerned.

    it has already been commented that 2 x 4s are soft / pine. However, just go buy some oak. It will last forever, won't split as easily, and is a safer piece for cribbing. Pine will get it done in a pinch of course. I have absolutely had pine split on me when working on the silverado.

    Don't be afraid of a little contrasting color there. Also - if you put a ball of plumbers putty underneath it will keep them from blowing off on the highway and is non-permanent.
