'Strut' is generally used to refer to MacPherson strut style suspension, which you described correctly. Essentially the shock body is mounted to the top of the knuckle and used as the upper suspension member. This is contrasted to double wishbone (upper and lower a-arm) or multi-link suspension...
Fit? Pretty good chance. Be usable? maybe not.
315/70r/17 is the stock raptor size, and it sounds like those guys can go up to a 37 without a lift for street driving, but end up smashing up their fender liners if you actually go off-road. I'm going to guess it'll be a similar story for the Bronco.
I've only watched a few of their videos and they had some interesting content but I agree the personalities aren't my favorite.
I do like Doug's videos because he shows us some of the weird little things you wouldn't see from most car reviewers and would never know looking at pictures, even if...
They probably will have fake engine noise, yeah. Pretty much every other Ford product has it in some version
I know on at least the F150 you can turn it off with forscan (which will be one of the first things I do on a Bronco along with enabling some options like 'Bambi mode')
There are...
I think any vehicle with an electronic handbrake and a manual transmission will also have hill start assist which prevents the car from rolling backwards on a hill when you let off the brake to solve that problem. If you prefer doing it manually that's fair, but the tech is there to make it not...
Or, my hope, something geared towards more speed and performance for events like KoH, Dakar, Baja, what have you.
Hopefully not hybrid. Weight is bad for turning corners.
I think we're going to see a Rubicon equivalent trim with front and rear lockers, maybe sway bar disconnect, etc at initial launch. We've already seen the prototypes with 35s, and buttons inside for front and rear lockers.
The 'Raptor' should be intended to be something different or a...
See, if that's what the Bronco Raptor is going to have, I'd love to know early, because it would mean I should get a lower trim one and put on better shocks and diffs myself. I have no interest in hundreds of pounds of batteries on a purely fun vehicle.
That's true, but:
-the samurai was sold in the 80s and early 90s, when power levels in general were significantly lower (200hp mustang gt anyone?)
-The samurai outsold the wrangler when it was only a 2 door, enthusiast vehicle. It's the 4 door that's the mainstream vehicle, which makes up the...
Just packaging I think. The lower you put the lower mount, the bigger a shock you can fit with the same upper mount, and therefore the more suspension travel you can allow.
Yeah, totally. That's the image they are going for. But they end up being used by people for regular family vehicles with more curb appeal, especially the 4 door version. The Jimny will never be able to do that in its current form. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a very cool little thing, I...
If the standard units are just shocks, where do the springs go? The ones we've seen with coilovers have included some that appear to be a low trim with all-season tires.
Good manual transmissions are good
Bad automatic transmissions are bad
There is a middle ground, bad manual transmissions do exist (bad shifting feel, bad gear ratio spreads, prone to failure, etc) and good autos do exist (Not all automatics with a manual mode will shift when you don't tell...
