  1. States more interested in the 2021 Bronco over Jeep and other competitors

No doubt there will be overlap, Defender starts at 50k. And I'm sure the Defender will have a nicer interior, etc. For my money though, I'd much rather get the full out performance version of the Bronco than the 2.0 4cyl base defender for the same price.
  2. New Member from NC

Even the manual versions will have start/stop, but from the sounds of it it will only shut the engine off when you are in neutral with the clutch out, so it's much less intrusive. As for the eliminator, a dealer would probably never even know it was there. Seems like it's essentially a latching...
  3. 2.7 vs coyote power curve

Looks like dry weight of the 2.7 is 440 lbs, which is slightly lighter than the 3.5 at 449lbs or the 5.0 at 444, so they did a pretty good job of keeping the weight down for an iron block with turbos. I can't find a number for the 3.0, I would expect it's slightly lighter still.
  4. 2.7 vs coyote power curve

Which is one of the reasons I'm still hoping for the 3.0 in the high performance Bronco. Aluminum block and more power
  5. 2.7 vs coyote power curve

Except it doesn't, it's crossing over at ~4600. I think their rpm scaling is off.
  6. The Fender Situation....

The Bronco R’s fenders would never be street legal, the tires are basically not covered at all by them I’d definitely like to see a bit more flare to the bodywork and then a more raptor-like plastic piece though. I’m also still hoping it looks better in person than the pictures we’re seen
  7. Plan B

This is a question that I spend a lot of time thinking about. There is literally nothing on the market in the fast, off road focused, 2 door suv space. And there hasn't really been since my Pajero Evolution. If I did NEED to get rid of my PajEvo and the Bronco doesn't pan out, there's a few...
  8. Big hood size, engine optimism ?‍♂️

Now to go along with that, my Mitsubishi does the same thing with the INVESC-II gearbox. It's a 6 speed auto with a full manual mode (only time it shifts when in manual mode is to prevent the engine stalling), but in auto mode it has what they called 'fuzzy logic'. It'll learn your shift...
  9. Big hood size, engine optimism ?‍♂️

Yeah, it'll have multiple maps. My LS7 does the same (except it wants 91+ as the base and 93+ for best performance), and the general rule of thumb is you have to run a full tank of 93+ through it before it'll be making full power again once you've been running 91 for a while.

The Ecoboost engines aren't 'Tuned' for one octane grade. They are smart enough to run on 87 by pulling timing, giving up power to protect the engine, or they can get more performance from premium. From an owner's manual: "3.5L V6 EcoBoostTM engine Your vehicle is designed to run on regular...
  11. The Bronco information drip feed

Not without a 2 door version it won't!
  12. will the bronco be cancelled altogether?

Yep, that's true. Certain options could potentially get cut, etc. I just don't see any way the Bronco itself doesn't come out.
  13. will the bronco be cancelled altogether?

I can't see any possibility of the Bronco itself being cancelled completely, as far as whatever versions are already set for production. I could certainly see any as yet undeveloped future, more extreme versions being shut down, same for next generation or mid cycle refresh projects.
  14. Big hood size, engine optimism ?‍♂️

The pic I posted is of the component itself with everything stripped away. Really it lives in the V of the engine, under the intake, and is thoroughly heat insulated.
  15. Big hood size, engine optimism ?‍♂️

You're correct that what it's directly acting against is kinetic energy of the gasses. However (in a well insulated system), capturing the kinetic energy of a gas is essentially the same thing as capturing the thermal energy, and much more efficiently than a thermocouple or something. The...
  16. Big hood size, engine optimism ?‍♂️

You mean like the MGU-H on F1 cars? Captures waste heat from the Turbo (sits between the compressor and the turbine) and turns it into electricity for the hybrid system. It can also be used the other way around, using electricity to spin up the turbo and prevent lag. It is, however, supposedly...
  17. 2021 Bronco Press Preview Officially Delayed... Reveal Delayed Also?

Unfortunately I think it makes more sense for Ford to just let the enthusiasm die down for now if they are expecting it to be a while before they can reveal. It would be a lot easier for them to start building hype again a couple weeks before their new planned reveal date than for them to try to...
  18. Big hood size, engine optimism ?‍♂️

I only sorta remember my thermodynamics courses from my physics degree so I'm going to avoid getting too deep into this because I don't want to crack out textbooks, but I'm just gonna comment on this point because this is two people being correct in different ways. Diesel fuel is more energy...
