Yeah I'm about to get rid of my BDS uppers because I can't stand the uni-balls anymore. Living in Illinois and driving it year round, even constantly trying to keep them clean and add the PTFE dry lube, they just continue to rust out super bad. Just cant keep the salt and shit out of them. Tired...
I feel like there’s a lot to unpack here, and before anything else I’m sorry to hear about the situation and also I sincerely thank your husband for his service.
Do you have a 2.3, or a V6? Because you said both.
ESP only lasts until the time OR mileage is up.
If it was past 48 months, then...
The vehicle would've went into limp mode and severely limited power far before significant damage likely would've been done.
There's a few different stages for the overtemp strategy. Sounds like you were probably only in the first stage most likely.
No problem.
I would assume that hairline cracking would not be covered or result in a replacement for this recall, but that is really just a guess at this point.
I think they're probably looking for more pronounced cracking that can actually lead to chunks of the top delaminating and flying off.

Appears to be for all hardtop panels, not just the clamshell.
Also appears to be an inspection followed by replacement based on inspection.
The original bulletin Ford released is all the information available right now

I think you probably just answered your own question. It’s clearly an issue for some, I just don’t think it’s as big of an issue as some believe it to be.
They may do that, you never know.
I expect this to be similar to the 2.7 valve recall. Where there will be an inspection, potentially replacement if it fails, and the maybe a limited warranty extension.
But, we will find out in November.
