Downright confusing update today - they pulled mine into the shop after sitting for weeks, it was in there for a few hours before pulling back out.
They say they had to replace the throwout bearing. I've never had any issues with it nor am I sitting around holding the clutch. Anyone else get one while they were in for the synchro TSB?
Somebody has to be first ;) Seriously, yours is the first report that I can recall.

Having tracked these various manualT noise threads, my overall impression is the dealer tech's are very often "throwing s$%t on the wall and seeing what sticks".

I've heard of at least one other that had problems with the throwout bearing after the trans was put back in. Most likely just improper installation.

Pulled up part number from previous page. Simple google search comes up around $1600-$1700 for these. Is this correct? Is this the correct current part number for these?
Anyone knows if Ford is actually selling the newest updated trans and is it really that cheap?
If this is correct... Just close this tread. 😂
Why do you even guys bother with this TSB. Chances are you will end up with more issues that leaving it alone. Even if you are worried that this trans could fail... Just buy a unit and put it in the back of your garage for that "one day".

Mine has been grinding since day one. I don't drive mine much, only 37k miles so far and 4 years, but I do offroad it couple of times a year. I don't even pay attention to the noise. Every once in a while, I notice it... and I'm like... Oh yeah... :) Transmission has been shifting consistently the same to this day. Not goanna say great, because it's a good transmission, not great. It's a truck transmission.
I will also say it again... My E39 M5 has been scraping/grinding when cold in a similar matter ever since I bought it 5 years ago. Still does. My old E39 540i did the same thing for 10 years and total of 235000 miles. Never had any issues. Same brand Getrag, different 420G trans- much older also, but I have a feeling their R&D is not from yesterday and they manufacture and design in a similar matter.

That is one number. There is another newer one though.
The price is usually only that cheap when they're in the process of supersession.

I agree. And same experience with my transmission. I just drive it and don't worry about it.

I believe realistically thought they are still in the realm of $3000 for any Joe Shmoe walking into a dealer. Probably even better with some shop discount.

I would honestly even get a second one that doesn't have the update for $1600. 😂 If one lasts 100k and then the other another 200k... That should still cover me. 😂
