Fire Protection: Extinguishers: Dry, Halotron, CO2, Element Stick, Blankets, etc... what are you carrying?

in the very rare event that my truck goes sparky and it bursts into flames I am bailing out and calling my insurance. Chances are I am never saving the truck and a little fire extinguisher ain’t gonna help much. That’s what 911 is for. Now if I cause. Little brush fire from my vehicle, which is astronomically unlikely, I do carry an old surplus entrenching tool. Mostly used if I need to dig myself out of the sh@t I got myself into. I am all into being prepared, within reason...

an extinguisher might be handy if you were 10 mile up a dirt road.......

It was a trade off:

ABC powder is significantly more corrosive than Purple-K. ABC uses mono ammonium phosphate, which melts under heat into a sticky, acidic, and highly corrosive residue that destroys electronics and metals. Purple K has way more knock down power then Halotron, but Holtron is truly ideal on electronics.

I am mostly in the fire prone woods of Northern Arizona , so having one ABC made sense.
I prefer one ABC and after that Halotron is perhaps ideal for the car, and maybe Purple K is better in regards to human life. I went for Purple K as I also like the price point too.

I have a size 12 shoe and my Baja co pilot has a larger foot still. I like the Seat Jacker allot too.

I did use a different extinguisher mount from amazon, had a red pull pin I liked.

I was doing industrial safety, so a few Fire Departments and smaller police stations but more often large coal mines, power plants, cement plants, factories, and a few school districts. The larger mines and power plants had their own para's and confined space rescue teams, as well as fire response. Did the gas detectors, fall protection all that stuff.

I like how well thought out Lobo stuff is. Sadly I keep missing their products as I do another solution right before they come out with the product.

I bought an overhead molle panel mainly to hold my extinguisher and a flashlight.

I like your idea of locating everything within reach from the driver's seat.

The Arizona Raptor Run group advocates for that as well. Apparently they had a guy out solo who rolled his truck and was suspended upside down and could not then get the seat belt to release since it carried all his weight.

You served some big organizations, all those are normally good sized operations.

The link you provided on Seat Rail mount... I think I've been there but forgot about it.

Aluminum. Be careful around the edge of the molle openings. They didn't break the edges on mine so there were a few wires/burrs. I just looked at their website. They say they're laser cut, I'm pretty sure mine wasn't. So the new ones may not have the same problem.

Just clamp/mount/glue a steel plate to the panel for magnetic items.

Laser leaves burrs like no other but MOLLE slots are a great shape for deburr tools or even deburr machines, so that seems like just plain poor craftsmanship to me.

I used to drive tow truck and saw way too many half burnt cars that insurance wanted to fix. Most would have been better off letting it burn to the ground.

Excellent point… either get it stopped early or let it go & burn may be the best route.

I’ve talked to several that where able to stop it quickly and repair, also spoke with a few that used a ABC under dash and regretted stopping it due to all the related problems with residue aftermath.

Some worth saving; brush fire under chassis, between skid plates, etc. Added 3rd Party Accessory wire under dash shorts or overloads and initializes a fire; poorly wired circuit in engine bay. Many of these could be quickly stopped before severe damage. I’m not certain but most electrical fires are related to add-on 3rd party circuits: improper gauge, not fused, overloaded, poorly mounted or routed.

That’d be a tough decision in quick thought… if you had the tools to prevent; most wouldn’t have to decide… it’d just burn up.

That does match nicely! Stylish Setup!!

Noticed you experienced the same as me, the Roll Bar Mount doesn't fit normal Fire Extinguisher mount bolt spacing.

I found a great solution with an adapter plate.
Let me look it up and I'll post it.

We've all found the the Bronco's bolt spacing is not compatible to standard mounts.

I searched around and stumbled across an adapter plate.
They don't list it separately, but will sell it separately in raw or black wrinkle finish.

They sell for about $26 each... yes, pricey but they solve a problem great. Nice clean look that blends in as factory look and saves on a wrap around clamp.

Yep, I considered that myself… not a difficult piece. Busy time and just lazy motivated the prepared manufactured route. Ha… and probably prettier than what I’d make.
