What quirks? You guys are wildly overthinking this. The only cas I've ever driven with quirky gas pedal feel are old shit boxes.

And yes...you are supposed to learn how to drive each car...that's the beauty of it all. Otherwise every car would drive exactly the same. What would be the fun in that? My Bronco feels entirely different than my X5M, and every other car, truck and SUV I've ever driven or owned. That's the beauty of it. I don't want an escalade, a porshe 911 or a lifted truck on 37s to feel alike in any way shape or form. Why would you?

You are conflating proper driver feedback with "driving the same." Just because a vehicle has proper accelerator modulation doesn't mean it drives exactly like every other car. There are so many factors (weight, center of gravity, horsepower, torque, gear ratios, suspension--I could go on and on) that make a huge difference. Having to learn how to drive around the dumb things your vehicle does is not beauty. Ask yourself: if your Bronco put 40% braking power with only 5% pedal depression, would you think that was good behavior? Then your X5M brakes completely differently. It's no different. A good driver's car responds the way you expect it should. It doesn't become a good driver's car because you've learned to drive around its deficiencies. By your argument, you should enjoy the beauty of the Bronco's accelerator response because it doesn't drive exactly the same as everything else.

If my Bronco put out 40% braking power at 5% effort I'd learn (after 2-3 pushes on the pedal) that the Bronco has sensitive brakes and drive it accordingly. I don't want to have to mash the brake pedal to the floor 100% in order to come to a complete stop. Why do you? What happens when you get new brakes in your vehicles? Do you have a panic attack every time you drive because they feel stiffer and more responsive or do you LEARN what the new brakes feel like and then adjust accordingly?

Every car I've ever owned drives as I expect it to drive. They're all different. Just like pleasing a woman or shooting a different gun or bow or riding a different bicycle. Yes the basic mechanics are all the same, but using each one is an entirely different experience. My Bowtech shoots differently than my Hoyt which is different than my PSE. Same mechanics, different experience. Same for my H&K, Sig, CZ and S+W. They're all basically the same, yet definitely different in feel and experience.

So in your expert estimation...are there any cars that you can name off the top of your head that meet your criteria or has the entire automotive industry failed you?

I'm not sure how you keep conflating linear response with "100% is required for normal driving". If I need to panic stop, yes, I expect that I will hit that brake pedal all the way to the floor. That's how it's supposed to work. Normal driving means a normal amount of pedal. So when I'm in a parking lot and want to slow from 10mph to 5mph, a light touch of the brake doesn't send everyone in the vehicle lurching forward, restrained only by their seatbelts because the vehicle suddenly slammed the brakes.

We're going to have to agree that you disagree with most driving enthusiasts, auto reviewers and the general population, and move on.

I'm not sure how you keep conflating linear response with "100% is required for normal driving". If I need to panic stop, yes, I expect that I will hit that brake pedal all the way to the floor. That's how it's supposed to work. Normal driving means a normal amount of pedal. So when I'm in a parking lot and want to slow from 10mph to 5mph, a light touch of the brake doesn't send everyone in the vehicle lurching forward, restrained only by their seatbelts because the vehicle suddenly slammed the brakes.

I'll agree that this conversation is ludacris, you can't provide any examples of cars that meet your criteria and it's obvious that you have incredibly poor motor control of your limbs to the point where braking and accelerating in a vehicle is too unpredictable for you. God forbid we throw a clutch pedal into the mix. I'm imagining the outcome would be a literal temper tantrum.

I'll be honest. I rented a jeep for 8 days in July while on vacation. I have 0 fucking clue why anyone would buy one anymore. It's a great example of lack of competition lead to complacency. I bet the percentage of people who could even get to the point where the IFS is "inferior" to a solid front axle off roading is so small, it's almost short sided marketing at this point. It's like having a worse experience for 99% of the time just so that 10 minutes of time goes an ounce smoother.

In my opinion, Jeep needs to cut $10k across the board to make up for the deficiencies compared to the bronco when it comes to every day life.

I think my favorite stupidity moment of the jeep was the fact that Android Auto requires a wired connection, but there is also no place on the console to put your phone when it's plugged in...

These were the original OG G.O.A.T. vehicles. Battle proven, but due to government safety standards died a slow death. Or should I say “soldiers never die, they just fade away”.
