Future of the 2.7L?

Saw the 2027 F-150 order guide come across a Reddit thread today. The dropped the 2.7L for the 3.0, perhaps the Bronco will get the same?

Filson did drop it for 3.0 so… I think I agree with Ducati though. Probably not MY27, but the looming new remodel… probably.

With premium fuel prices being what they are right now, I wouldn’t want a 3.0 in mine. The 2.7 is quick enough for me.

The 3.0 doesn’t have both port and direct injection. Ford needs to address that.

The 2.7 is arguably the best ECO boost. Weird Ford would drop it.

I believe the plan was to condense down to one Nano product so yes the Bronco will get it. I don't think they will steal the Filsons thunder right away for MY27 though but it could happen

I’m not sure a 3.5 would fit very well. That left turbo would be awful close, if not into, the steering shaft.

Could go one of two ways:

1. They're dropping 2.7L completely.
2. They're dropping the 2.7L just from the F-150 because of the Silverado, along with Ranger/Bronco demand.

I'm guessing it's the latter, probably largely in response to the new generation Silverado in 2027. They have a new 5.7L V8 replacing the old 5.3L V8, and the 3.0L would be positioned nicely against it.

Only reason why I'm not 100% confident is because of the 3.0L on the Filson trim. But we'll see. If I'm right... maybe we'll see the 2.7L on lower trims again?

Yeah I think long term (maybe 28MY+) it doesn’t make sense to keep the 2.7 around for just the bronco/ranger though.
Unless they decide to put it in something else by then, but I don’t know what that would be.
