What size lift should I run on 33 inch tires?

This drawing compares the Outer Banks (32") with the Badlands (33"). The Badlands has 0.9" more ground clearance (H105). This comes mostly from differences in tire diameters and a minor bit from springs. There is no body lift. A Badlands weighs more, hence different springs so there's probably a slight difference in springs.

There's no difference in clearance between the back bumper and the body between the two models (H705). The front bumper difference is due to different bumpers.

Many people will use simple spacers instead of replacing springs, but spacers have problems of their own.

The difference in Bilsteins vs Hitachis really, and yeah tires make up some of that too.

I guess I'm not following, has things changed since 2022, when the Sasquatch Bilstein's (High suspension) had more lift, than the Bilsteins (Special suspension), that came on the BL's?

Nope you are spot on.

I'm just speaking to why people say the non-SAS Badlands has lift. It does - compared to the lower trim lines on Hitachi shocks - by virtue of having the Bilstein. Just a different spring/coil over setup, and bigger tires, so it rides a little bit higher.

SAS has another bit of lift over the Badlands Bilstein. It's a similar coilover, but not identical, and even bigger tires again, so a bit more lift.

I have a Black Diamond and bought some Badlands takeoff 33" tires and added an Eibach Stage one lift. Mine are set on the second to the lowest clip height (you cannot dial in adjustability) and it added roughly 1.5" height in the rear and 1.75" in the front. I have the 2.7 engine and the front height would be different with the 2.3. I was worried that the clip-style adjustablilty would put me at odd heights that I couldn't change but I think it's the perfect height. Without the lift and when I was on my stock 32s I scraped a bunch on my first trip to Moab and with the 33" tires and lift I clear about as well as a SAS Bronco. The first photo is with no payload and the second photo is when I'm fully loaded with camping and recovery gear.

Here is my ‘23 Black Diamond with 17x9 +35 with BFG 285/70/17. 1.5 inch lift with Bilstein 5100s. Much better ride and handling with the 5100s.

It has 4 main bolts then one on each corner. It's really sturdy. Pulling ir pushing on it with my whole body moves the car. There is slight movement when I push with whole body weight but nothing really.

I don't think Ford did a lift for the Badlands which comes with 33" tires (LT285/70R17).

Look for pictures of 2-door Badlands to see what one looks like without lifts.

To be clear, the "unlifted" Base Bronco (BB, BD, OBX) uses "Hoss 1" black Hitachi Shocks. The Badlands is lifted about .6" over Base with yellow Bilstein Hoss II shocks. The Sasquatch uses a longer yellow Bilstein Hoss II shock for a 1.1" lift over Base. The Hoss III Fox Wildtrak Ford Performance shock is about 2" over base, depending on weight.

No lift is needed to fit the 33’s. But, I went ahead and did a 2” on mine when i installed 33” BD takeoffs. Just wanted a little more clearance and ride height.

May switch to 35” tires when i replace these. But i’m gonna wear these out.
