Can anyone answer this? I too am curious if you need to change that by using a same size but heavier tire than the stock Goodyears.
You do not need a new carrier - the plastic carrier has some steel reinforcement in the back if you take it off and peek up underneath. If you go with different rims that have a different offset, you may need to adjust/replace the rubber bump stops, and anything larger than 35" you are going to want a CHMSL extension.

But, as @EruptionBronco mentioned, it's highly recommended to get a tailgate brace of some sort. Most of those will just re-use the factory spare tire carrier.

i run the Micky Thompson A/T and they're great on and off road, plus they look sexy on the 2 door.
The MT is considerably different than the AT. Not much siping on the lugs, and the lugs are much deeper. The MT is a much more chonky tire than the AT. The AT is 3PMSF rated, the MT not so much (lack of siping, but you get deeper lugs, so ... give and take)

Nitto Ridge Grappler is another good option.
I run the Ridge Grapplers, and even though they are marketed as an RT (supposed to be inbetween an AT and MT, I guess?), I dunno that I would put them up against a true MT in serious mud.

They do great on dirt and rock, but mud... I think I get by because I'm running a bigger tire (38"), not because the Ridge Grappler is a better tire.

I’ve had issues with rock chips and am curious if either of these might throw slightly less rocks than the good years?
Almost every tire is better for not throwing rocks than the stock SAS tires.

I missed her comment about rain and mud. I wasn't comparing them to mud terrains anyway. From my understanding she wanted a tire that threw fewer rocks and looked good, and the KM3 is an A/T. Nothing is going to compete in the mud like an M/T, I would think... At least the good ones.

I just installed 37” KM3 about 2 weeks ago. I absolutely love them, people that says they’re loud obviously have never actually ran them, mine are super quiet and very smooth. The only place you ever feel the tread is at a creeping pace on hard surfaces, any speed above that they’re buttery. They’re the best tire choice I’ve ever made, in addition zero rocks.

I am running Mickey Baja Legend MTs (37r13.50x17) and like them a lot…know lots of folks running Baja Boss tires and have never heard anything bad about them (MTs alittle loud)…I would go for the D rated 35r12.50 rather then E rated 315r70…I am not a fan of BFG…a photo of my legends is not much help but anyway…

I had a set for 50k miles and they were a great tire, as long as you stayed away from Snow. They did very well in mud and had good on-road manners.

I can not decide on new tires. And am hoping people have pictures of what theirs look like mounted.

I have a 2023 two door wildtrak Sasquatch and the stock tires are worn.
I’ve had issues with rock chips and am curious if either of these might throw slightly less rocks than the good years?

Also, if you have gotten a heavier tire have you had to change the spare tire mount on the back?

I researched both & decided that that they are similar in performance etc. I think M/T's are heavier. I went with M/T's because I like the looks and have liked M/T products since the 70's

It sounds like you would be better off with AT vs. MT. AT tend to handle better in the rain. Both can have certification for M + S (mud and snow). MT definitely look more aggressive though.

MT are also known to be louder and more difficult to balance. Whether you choose AT or MT, rotate during every oil change.

MT Baja Boss (AT and MT) are great tires if you do any wheeling.

I have Nitto Trail Grappler MT on my trail Jeep and they have been great.

I had Falken AT4W on my previous DD (Ram 1500) and they handled very well on the street (didn't go offroad much).

Cooper Discoverer STT Pro are more of a hybrid tire, cross between AT and MT. I had these in a 35" on my Jeep for a few years and they handled well on the street and on rocks.

Some have mentioned BFG. Though I've heard the AT last a long time, I've also seen that their tires run small. A friend of mine replaced his 35's (other brand) with BFG 37's and they were almost the exact same size as the 35's. Not sure about the KM3, but the KM2 was known for having a weak sidewall. I remember a lot of people getting side wall punctures on CA rocks.

There isn’t a 35” tire on the market that’s as big as any 37”. My KM3 tires are supposedly on the smaller size of 37’s and absolutely dwarf the stock 35’s. There’s a few spreadsheets on the forum showing most of the 35-37” tires along with measured height, width and weight.

Honestly it depends on what she means by mud. Hitting a couple inches of mud in a puddle in a logging road isn't the same as playing in deep, thick mud in a mud pit. Most of what I saw on logging roads in Washington State was a lot more water, than mud, and I'd kind of assume that's mostly what she's seeing. For what I remember back home, 30 years ago, I'd think the AT would be the better option.

Now if she's hitting mudholes somewhere with a lot of soil in there...yeah, the MT is going to be the clear and only choice. The perspective on how you define mud is really going to be key in the tire selection.
