Mine doesn’t come up on the recall notice (mine hasn’t been repaired previously) but I just had an incident where the transfer case-drive shaft coupling went out and caught fire while I was driving on a local toll road.
I took it to the dealership thinking this recall would apply, but they’re saying it’s from the extra stress of lifting it recently…which smells like BS.
Pics from after I put it out and the next morning.

I would agree with your dealer. I’m not sure how this would have anything to do with the recall. It’s for the shaft between the transmission/transfer case.

Looks like your rzeppa joint boot probably got torn/damaged from an extreme angle (common on broncos with a lift) and then the friction may have started the fire.

Not related. That’s just the driveshaft. Very well documented concern.
My 23 2Door does this occasionally. It’s very subtle, inaudible, but I can feel it. Any recommendations to remedy?

You can try and grease the slip joint in the middle of the shaft. You’ll need to find some new clamps after you remove the old ones though since ford doesn’t sell them separately. That being said, it will only last so long and you’ll likely need to do it again.

The best option is probably just to deal with it, or replace it with a better aftermarket shaft which is designed better.

If this is "well documented"... what do I have to say to get the dealer to do something about this? I have this happening also.

It is well documented on here. Numerous people with the same concern who had it fixed after getting the rear driveshaft replaced, including me.

There is not any actual Ford documentation on this though, so you’re just going to have to explain the issue to them and that you’ve seen multiple other people with the same concern and it ended up being caused by the slip joint in the middle of the driveshaft.

If they were able to confirm the concern, it should be pretty easy for them to verify it’s the driveshaft by simply removing it, driving it in 4wd and watch the issue completely disappear.

Received my official letter as well, says the parts are expected by the 3rd quarter this year.
