I'm at about 28K, commute daily on the highway, sometimes long distances between two cities. I did put a deflector on the leading edge of my hood. I've lost windshields in other cars but thus far, knock on wood, I'm still on the original windshield.

😅 I came across yet another cracked windshield post this morning, and it got me thinking...

At this point, windshield cracks seem to be one of the most common topics in the Bronco community. Some owners make it years without an issue, while others end up with a crack surprisingly early.

Personally, I'm curious:

How long did your original Bronco windshield last before the first crack or major rock chip?

And for those who have already joined the "cracked windshield club" 🍻, have you found anything that actually helps?

I've seen owners mention everything from changing driving habits to hood deflectors and windshield protection film, but opinions seem to be all over the place.

Also, a bit of a selfish question from our side...

If Mabett ever looked into a Bronco hood deflector, is that something you'd actually consider installing, or do you think it wouldn't make much difference?

Interested to hear some real-world experiences.

38 months and 27k miles, knock on wood!

I'm on my original windshield after four years. The trick is to leave plenty of following distance especially in conditions where stuff can be kicked up. This will not only protect your windshield but reduce rock chips in the hood. Added bonus -- you will be less likely to rear end the car in front if traffic comes to a sudden stop.

2023 Big Bend with 17K miles. One small chip. Stay out from behind all semis, dump trucks, cement mixers, and vehicles that look likely to sling something. Fingers crossed...

2026 60th….1 month and 2k miles, rock hit edge of passenger side windshield. Absolutely worst place to take a hit. Crack is moving toward driver side slowly.

I still have my original windshield. I purchased in Nov. 24 and have about 8K miles on it. I did get hit with a strong wind gust with sand and debris. That gave the windshield some minor small sand blast pits but not noticeable until going directly into the sun. Not bad enough to do anything about. Just a part of normal windshield duty.

'24, 61k still on first but has a 6" crack from a month ago that I will keep until I get more. I'll try a glue kit first before bothering my insurance co.
