Remember when cars used to only come with one side mirror? I learned to drive stick on a Datsun pickup. Only one mirror on the drivers side and no power steering.

Manufacturers used to charge extra for another mirror.

My dad drove broncos (and bronco IIs) from the early 80s until they retired them in the 90s. Another favorite old timey memory was getting out and manually locking hubs.

Old cars had such character.

I remember my uncle and my dad thinking it was funny to make me get out in the mud to manually lock the hubs. Lol

I live in a gated 55+ community ... most folks are older than me ... I figure we all grew up using hand signals (if not in cars then surely on bikes) ... but I swear these old bastards are trying to kill me when I'm on my bike! 🤬

When I had to drive 4X4s for a living, I prefered manual hubs. Automatic hubs have a tendency to unlock automatically in certain situations. Manual hubs mean you need to plan ahead.

I remember when they charged extra for a radio or electric windshield wipers. I also remember one car, can't remember which, that had aftermarket turn signals, it didn't come from the factory with turn signals. It may have one of my Dad's pickups. JC Whitney sold them. Some cars on the road only had one taillight/brake light, not two.

I recall when I had a 4th pedal for the e-brake and another foot switch for high beams.

I remember a pedal for the starter. I think it was a 1953 Dodge pickup.

Don't get me started...old school is gas/brake/clutch.
My 69 F-250 had a manual choke. My little sister couldn't start it. Mom had to show her how.

She still doesn't know what a choke is or does mind you, just "the little lever you have to pull out to start old cars"
