What Passes for a Bronco in Europe

I frequently travel to Europe; just got back from three weeks / six countries. Not ONE Bronco was to be seen.
But quite a few Suzuki Samurais/Jimnys. Perfect size for their roads/parking!

This one caught my eye. Almost like a micro 2dr G-Wagon (widdle wadder and all). Pretty Cool.

I’d take a Jimny any day. Killer rig for exploring the right trails of over grown logging roads around here.

Bronco is or was avail in Germany and Austria at least. As an expensive (for Europe thanks to import duties and 20%+ sales tax, plus expensive road tax) primitive (by any standard except Mahindra Jeep knock offs in India), and huge size (weight at least) for Europe, gas guzzling vehicle at $7+ gal, it's only for the wealthy as an alternative to ostentatious G-wagon which is long in the tooth for those circles and mostly driven by criminals and politicians haha.

New Lada is an equivalent on all measures except weight and HP but probably exceeds in off-road capability like Suzukis, both aimed at mass market that Bronco targets here, albeit need a lot more cash down to acquire on finance plus a few years of verified accounts and tax returns in most EU countries.

Love these Jimny’s. I always rent these when I travel to other countries if available. If I could I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Sister and BIL had a Samurai back in the day. Capable little rig, but WAY underpowered. Needed a strong tailwind to hit 60.

The main problem is that Ford set the MSRP way too high in Europe and then didn't offer any decent financing or leasing deals. They sat on the initial batch they imported for years. They still had first editions sitting at the port in the Netherlands two years after they got there.

In some countries, like Germany, commercially registered vehicles such as company cars, make up around two thirds of new car registrations. Most of these are leased. So if Ford doesn't offer decent leasing rates nobody will get them.

For the original price they were asking for here, one could get a certified pre-owned Mercedes G-Wagen...

We rented a Jimny in Iceland and it was so much fun! So lightweight and nimble. Funny enough, we saw at least a half-dozen G6 Broncos there, every one of them was a Wildtrack.

2 Bronco models available from Ford Portugal - can you guess why I've not seen one in the Portugal?!?! (at todays rates $152,846 & $161,570). Only one I saw other than mine in the EU was at a train station parking near Brussels. My friend said he saw one the other week here outside of Lisbon that had Diplomatic plates on it...

I tried to get a Jimney before I decided on my Bronco but they are off limits now. Small engine but still emission issues or something over here so no new ones. And a couple of year-old ones are $$$
