I agree with you on the capable bumper..... I really like some of the others but there is not one I would rather have....

Love the look of this with the winch hidden. What’s the difference between a capable bumper and modular bumper.

Hoping to replicate this on my 2026 Bronco OBX.

With deliveries just around the corner, let's kick this off. Anything pretty much goes from major mods, regular maintenance, a good wash and wax or coated it mud off roading.
From 35’s to 37’s.

Put on 37s a couple weeks so I finally got around to dig into Forscan to change the tire size. Today I disabled the double honk, the seatbelt chimes, door ajar chimes, startup chimes, enabled raising the windows via key fob and added Sport mode

Well this mount fits either one since it sits where the stock intercooler comes from the factory.... There are 3 different factory bumpers. The plastic, the Capable and the Modular...

The "Plastic" is obviously made of plastic... top pic
The "Capable" is hydroformed steel with some plastic bits... middle pic
The "Modular" is made of several pieces bolted together... bottom pic

The reason I was mentioning it fits the "Capable" bumper is because it tends to be a little more difficult to find winch mounts that fit the capable.... again though it will fit any of them.... although I would think if you had the "plastic" bumper you might want to change that out first....

Than you, very helpful! Do indeed have the plastic bumper, so I have to change the bumper for sure. Trying to keep the look as close to factory as possible.

The hidden winch is ideal for me, but sounds like it may bring on some additional adjustments like changing the intercooler.

the other key for me is making sure the automated cruise control, front camera, and parking sensors still function properly.

There are a couple of other options for a "hidden" winch mount... Rough Country and Lobo... Rather than moving the intercooler they mount just a little lower. Both require changing out the front skid plate because the fairlead is mounted on the skid.... Advantage that they do not move (replace) the intercooler and the ACC receiver for your adaptive cruise control stays where it is. AND you can run a full size drum winch.... Disadvantage is the winch sits considerably lower which can be an issue with water crossings and you have to use their front skid plate... Of those two I would look hard at the Lobo... Just my opinion... The RC is probably just fine I just get a little better feeling about the Lobo manufacturing quality. I may be wrong but I think they use a little heavier material. someone with knowledge about those two would be better suited to answer questions about those options.

I swapped out my original driver's seat cloth cover/cushion for a used one I grabbed on Ebay. I have RC seat covers to protect the seats but with the lift and 37's you have to slide out of the seat and I figured it would eventually damage the cushion and probably the stock cloth seat cover. My original seat cover/cushion only has around 9200 miles on it so it was worth setting it aside to keep in new condition. My fingers are sore from trying to pry the cover off the seat frame but I was successful and had no injuries or blood from scratched knuckles.

Here's the cleaned up Ebay cover/cushion:

Beyond scratched knuckles…how difficult was the swap? I’ve had a full set of cloth seat covers and seat back foam to swap my MGV with, I’ve had them for a couple years now. Never got around to it for fear it’s a royal pain in the rear with a kazillion hog rings to replace.
