The biggest objection to the idea of an electric Bronco that I have heard is the range. But I think that with the increase on the price of fuel and the innovations in electric batteries, this could come to be a reality sooner than later. Skipping the political and ideological debate here, what is your opinion on an electric Bronco?

Mine (owner of a 2.3 Turbo 2 door Badlands 2025) is that if the EV provides me with 250 miles of range (which is what my 2.3 gas engine gives me) I am fine and I would consider a Bronco EV, depending on pricing, manufacturer warranty, maintenance, etc. Scout motors have its new Suvs incorporating battery extender generators (fuel) and the innovations on swappable batteries are coming fast. Here is a video showing battery swapping technologies:

I'd consider it if they canceled the 7MT and I was forced to get an automatic. I also have solar on my house, so electricity is free for me for next 25 years which is pretty enticing.

I think we are most likely to get something like the F150 powerboost because of the hybrid push by ford and also the overlanding benefit of the onboard generator

EREV would be a better/less complicated setup I would think, however that's probably father out depending on the success of the new lightning

I hear you. I did my overlanding on my old Land Rover D90 (1995), andI remember carrying the jerry can in the back and having to use it but I don´t go off road much any more, so I would also consider an EV, from just looking at dollars and cents. And I think most of the buyers of SUVS are city of suburbs folks that never go off road. I am almost to the point of installing Solar at home and a couple of batteries, because it is getting to be cost efficient where I live and because my Electric and Heating has been going thru the roof. To me is basically that, money sense.

Agree probably 95% of miles are still on local roads.

We got solar last year and while it was a bunch of $ up front, now we basically have no costs except fuel and get a credit from the utility every month for excess electricity. Needless to say an EV doesn't sound so bad with Gas approaching $5

I'm not into pure EV right now. I do have one of the Scouts on preorder. Not sure if I'll go through with it or not. I need a good 350 range without having to stop to get me to buy anything that is non ICE (which is why I'm considering the Scout) - also as long as they hold to it, Scout should bypass all the dealer BS. I know I am NOT dealing with my local VW dealer who happens to be my most local ford dealer. Would rather bite the curb before I ever deal with him again. But I digress...

Agree I think the Scout EREV was pretty smart for US if they can get it right. I'll be watching that closely. No dealer model is pretty awesome idea too

I have the automatic. I was forced to get it as a compromise because my wife doesn't drive a manual very well. My last several 4x4's (Ford Bronco Gen 2, F250 and Land Rover) were all manuals. I am a sworn manual guy. Bottom line; I actually like the automatic in the Bronco...very much against my will.

EV Error is over, enough of this crap. I do wanna diesel Bronco though
Yeah, the EV Error might get a second look. Given the fact that gas prices are starting to…trump…the negative aspects of EV.

I too compromised, I wanted a 2 door but wife said I have too many kids to fit in the back

yeah my Gen 5 is auto, I just love the Manual on the gen6 so I always try to advocate for it. But if I didn't have that I kind of feel like for my situation I may as well just have an EV version or an EREV which was the question the original thread was about.

I'd be interested depending on the specs.

Been daily driving a Tesla for a couple of years now. In reality, there's no cons.

I too, have a Scout reserved, but I'm only interested in the BEV variant. I have less than zero desire for a hybrid.
