The 2024 Wildtrak is tired of being a pavement princess. We are trying to develop our off-roading chops by taking some easier trails up front. Starting with the Shafer Trail, is it necessary to air down to low 20s like the Broncos at the Off-Rodeo? Thanks in advance.

IMO ive seen way too many vids guys airing down for simple rocky roads then crawling on them.....speed and presssure is your friend as long as no huge rocks or whoops.

If constantly losing traction air down or just drop to 30 to start.

No need to air down except for comfort. It’s not a technical trail - really it’s just a dirt road but if you don’t like heights it can be unnerving due to tight switchbacks and huge drop offs. Spectacular views.

It helps with the ride and most people never bring up the fact that you won't get has many flats because you don't pick up as many nails and sharp metal. We did the Shafer without airing down, most of it is an easy gravel road.

Way more comfortable if you do.

But airing down only really needed for rocks, or if you start slipping a lot.

I agree with the others. There are a few washed out areas where you have to take it slow but other than that a nice dirt drive. I would air down just for the better ride but you don't have to.

I like to do Shafer starting at the Potash road side and go up the switchbacks.

Long canyon (Pucker Pass) is another nice trail and there are a lot of easy rides in the Dubinky Well area.

Did it this past January in a Badlands SAS and didn't air down. No real need, just take it slow and enjoy.

Recently spent a few days in moab and did shafer, along with top of the world, hells revenege, fins, tower arch etc. We ran 18 psi the whole time including driving to and from the trails. We were on 38x13.5s so I would probably stick with 22 or so on the stock 35s. Keep highway speeds to 50 or below and its not a concern. Some trails needed it, but some it was just for the smoother ride on the roads. Shafer certainly does not need any pressure drop, but it sure made it smoother and more pleasant.
