I think it’s time to service transmission fluid

Only low gears like leaving a stop light and person in front of you keeps changing speed in a left turn. Tranny doesn’t quite know what gear to select as you hover/feather throttle
Mine is bad with this too. People around here drive like shit and can’t maintain a decent consistent speed. This drives my transmission crazy! It gets jerky and clunky. Sometimes it lunges forward pretty hard when shifting too. And it seems pretty bad when turning as well. Getting into the main road after I drop my kids off at school is difficult. You have to gun it to get out there. Sometimes mine feels like it bogs down when accelerating and turning. I’ve always wondered if it’s a transmission issue or a fuel delivery issue. I have the 2.7 (23 WT) with about 47k miles and the ford performance tune has been installed for 35k of those miles. I think I’m going to let the dealer look at it soon

Resetting the adaptive/learning tables on the TCM will make your Bronco feel like new again.

I’m going to try the battery disco for 20 minute method and clear the tranny. Would be nice if adaptive learning could be turned off.

Is that confirmed to work? I might try it as well. Start simple and go from there.

Alright- disconnected the negative terminal for 30 minutes. Went for a drive- backroads and highway to start relearning the transmission. So far it feels pretty good. Time will tell.
Something to think about when you do this- lower your windows if you’re going to open/close your doors while power is disconnected- the window drop won’t work. I reprogrammed mine once power was restored.

#1 ATF killer is heat, not milage unless extreme milaage. With a single extreme heat event the additive package gets toasted, PH levels go off the charts and resutling acidity is toxic to internals.

Thats why so may trailer pulling trucks and big RVs with marginal trans have trans failures in the mountains especially.

I dont tax my trans at all, but if I did a drain pan would be first thing and id dump it every other oil chage and use natural gas derived syntheric becaue base stock can take the heat and has premium additive packages.

As it is, Ill probably do a PPE pan this year some time and Im only at 10K miles.

Don’t know. That why I want to try it. Can’t hurt.

After removing the negative battery cable for 30 minutes, I’ve driven probably 100-125 miles and it has definitely made a difference. I’m still driving nice and easy as it re-learns, but shifting is much smoother. Not perfect by any means but definitely better. I had my pro-cal tune installed at 6500 miles and I wonder if this should have been done then. Not sure if the tune install resets the TCM but if it doesn’t then the tune is working with a non tune learned transmission behavior. Maybe that made it much worse. Not sure! In any case, definitely worth trying for those having rough shifting issues.

I'm having my 10spd dumped&filled on Monday, having the guys take a sample for me to send to Blackstone for analysis. 46k miles.

3.73s & 35s, a fair amount of wheeling, lots of 4x4 donuts and other high throttle shenanigans in the snow, and I got the trans temp juuuuust about to the red line on one occasion..

Nothings wrong or acting funny.. I just over maintain my crap and I'm curious as to how much (if any) accelerated wear I've put on the trans with what I've forced it to endure lol.

I'll make a thread once I get the results.

Update- after 3-4 weeks, the choppy, rough and delayed shifting returned. I’m at the dealer right now. They’re beginning to go through the TSB. Hopefully just a software issue but we shall see.
