I don’t pay for it. Unlike you, I didn’t like Ford’s nav enough to pay for it. I’m an apple guy so I’m ok w/ Apple Maps. Try Google Maps if you don’t like Apple Maps.

The Ford Nav was nice when it was free during the first month or so. Good functionality, display, and easy to use. But I have 2 cars, all my contacts in my iphone, and lots of favorites saved in GoogleMaps. So it didn’t make any sense to pay for FordNav that is restricted to the Bronco.

I prefer GoogleMaps, with CarPlay, tho still use AppleMaps if loading an address from Contacts or Calendar since iOS won’t let you change the default mapping app. 🤬

It is also annoying that there is a dedicated screen button for Ford Nav that I never use now and cannot reassign. I wish it was possible to change it.

Just noticed my connected nav is about to expire. I like the nav and think it’s easier to read than CarPlay maps, but it’s not worth over $90 a year.
It's $6.66/month when you pay for the year. Apply your Ford Pass Points, and it is even cheaper.

I just renewed 10 minutes ago. I had the Connected Built-In feature from the factory for 3 years.

I could see it being of more value if it was one subscription per family. Per vehicle is silly though.

I use Maps a lot but don’t trust it as much when outside of cell tower range, even with offline maps. I also hate how it seems to stutter when not navigating.

This is my first car with CarPlay (that is easy to use and worth it). Here in Virginia where radar detectors are illegal, WAZE is a must-have item. Not that I'm speeding around like a teenager, but it's nice to know when I'm approaching a cop car. In my area, it's about 90% accurate for the police locations, also nice to know when there is a problem in the road coming up, like debris or construction. Plus, you can totally customize the voice. Who doesn't like Morgan Freeman giving you directions or heads-up of a police car, and it's actually funny!

I tell Siri, “Give me directions to John’s house using Google Maps.”

It pulls up John’s address from contacts, and routes me using Google Maps.

Yeah a family subscription would be more valuable. My 2nd car isn’t a Ford, so that would not help in my case.

I’ve only used Google Maps’ offline maps, I haven’t tried Apple’s offline maps yet.

Nice that Siri lets you do that. Unfortunately, that‘s not a solution I can use since I had throat cancer several years ago and no longer have the ability to speak. AI voice assistant/controls are pretty useless for me.

For the low price of 1 Starbucks per month, you can have your Ford connected services.

Sorry, thought I would have a bit of fun with it.

I use CarPlay only. With multiple CarPlay vehicles, it’s just easier. Plus the maps tend to stay up to date better and I don’t have an extra subscription to pay for. I’m subscriptioned out. Too many. I don’t need one for my car, too.

My 2024 Big Bend did not even come with navigation. For those who say: "Hey - what's the problem? I use Apple|Android..." But you pay for that too! Probably more.

With Apple|Android solutions: everywhere you drive, where you park, how you eat, how you buy, what you say and how you drive is data being monitored and sold.

I'm not defending the Ford subscription, because Ford has been caught selling your driving habits to insurance companies, and has a scary choice of patents in the queue - the most recent being lip-reading and emotion detection (which can lock the vehicle from being drivable) and listening to your in-vehicle conversations in order to market ads.

I remember my mother and father bickering over the folded paper maps while driving the Country Squire on the east coast with us kids in the back seat. The old paper maps, or using open-source operating systems and mapping apps are the cheapest and safest way to go, and are often free. Or you can go with hardware like a Garmin and ensure it is not connected.

here is Apples privacy policy, I don’t think your info is being sold:

I don’t think Google Maps sells this either, but does sell ad space that gets to you. Sadly Apple Maps is bringing ads soon.

there are open source map apps that barely provide essential mapping services but are still better than paper maps. Paper maps are out of date the moment after they are printed.

Mine is also expiring soon. I've used it several times during the trial period but find myself using Apple or Google Maps way more often.

The user interface and display/instruction for Ford maps is just different enough to be frustrating to learn. So just not worth it to me.

Also, it's an off road vehicle subject to use outside of cell range, especially out west. I don't know the map capability when there is no cell service. It appears there is no way to interface it to internet/live maps via Starlink (that some people put in their off road vehicles).

I might pay up to $4 a month but no more.

There's that "Trust me bro policy" which does not translate into the real world! Major tech companies like FaceBook and Google purchase your data from Apple, who then in turn sells it. Google doesn't sell their search engine tech to Apple and their Safari browser for no reason! USA Today revealed that Apple provides for "advertisers to target users based on their history in the App Store and News app". They also reported that Apple "scrambles this information and looks at patterns of usage, not at who it’s coming from". There's your basic "aggregated" metadata bait/switch right there. Apple admits to collecting YOUR information about the music you listen to "what movies, books and apps you download" as well. They openly collect what you do in their News app and App Store, shoving it into categories by relevancy. Moreover, they've been sued multiple times for "right-to-privacy" infringements.

The BEST one can claim about Apple is that they are not as bad as other companies, making the the "lesser of [x] evils" in a world where you are the product.

WAZE is great for high speeders on top of detedtors and jammers but my soft top is so loud over 75 and 2.7 sucks so much gas my 100 MPH crusie speed is over.

My city partnered with WAZE to surveil citizens driving so I deleted it and dont miss it.

Google maps is the superior choice in all regards. I can't fathom why anyone would use anything else or even consider paying money for an inferior choice.
Waze is adequate but hallucinates constantly. I know a few people who swear by (or used to) swear by waze until they did a side-by-side with google maps and saw how badly it planned routes compared to google.
