Guys thanks for taking the time to read this question. I am a total newbie and want to get into overlanding. I decided that I am going to get the Badlands model but here is my million dollar question. Do I need to upgrade to the Sasquatch package? Here is what i am looking to do. Nothing extreme! I want to be able to head out for overnight trips in the back country and be my weekend home on wheels in the parking lots during the ski season here in WA state. No rock crawling nothing crazy I just want to get away from the people here in Seattle. This will be my everyday driver as well so keep that in mind. The one I am looking at has the Equipment Group 334A and does not have the Sasquatch upgrade. The salesman at Sound Ford told me the only difference is the Sasquatch upgrade has the bigger tires. I actually prefer the slightly smaller tires on the basic Badlands but I do want to be safe when off roading. So please any experienced overlanders here in the PNW tell me if I really need to upgrade. Thank you so much! Also to anyone in Seattle do you have a recommendation for a dealer? The guys at Sound Ford could not answer any of my questions other then they are all basicly the same.... which i find hard to believe :)
I have the SAS Badlands, I think it looks better, it has better clearance and is better for "rock climbing" you get better torque to the wheel in it. For general overlanding I don't see where it would be a must. If you plan on the rocks yeah maybe. I am pretty sure that you will get better mileage without it. I get 16.9 (17) all the time.

Need or want. I have the 2 Dr Badlands SAS with 2.7L. I have no regrets. If I didn't have it I would have regrets after having driven both. I got exactly what I wanted. short of some things none of them have. I want 37's now.

Is Hoss 3.0 available to non-SAS builds?

It probably comes down to if you think you would ever want to go taller on the tires (35's or 37's and you will most likely think about it at some point) then going with Sas is a good idea. Adding Sas to a Badlands isn't as much of an increase in price compared to the other models if you plan on getting the AT anyway since it's included with Sas. If you can, go and test drive a Sas Bronco vs a non Sas and see how you like the ride/drive, that might convince you. I went base Sas and I'm really glad I got the Sas vs just adding lift/tires later on. I ended up going with some lift and 37's and it still drives great, tows the boat easily and gets 18-20 mpg. I think the biggest option you might want is the Hoss 3.0 shocks which looks like is only available with Sas.

Two door Stroppe with Sasquatch next to my 2 Door Badlands without Sasquatch ( Badlands roof is off). Not much height difference at all. That being said IMO and Sasquatch trim is a tad more comfortable on road surfaces. My guess is the bigger tires have a lot to do with this. Also, you are under warranty if you opt for the Sasquatch and don’t retro fit a lift. Truth be told if I was a young fellow I would have gone with the Sasquatch just because of testosterone levels. Being a certified geezer and one that has no plans to rock crawl and only traverses the beaches of the East coast for surf fishing, the Sasquatch was not needed with the look of the Badlands. Enjoy your Bronco however you decide. I know I have.

I thought about getting the sasquatch package on my 22 but opted out of doing it…one thing you don’t think about if you live in a city or plan to try underground parking/ garage you have a better chance fitting with 33s than a lift with 35.

When I was shopping last year I could have bought a Sasquatch for about the same cost, or possibly less, than the Badlands I bought, probably just due to availability. My research suggested I wanted the standard Badlands so I stayed with that and have no regrets.

I'm in a similar situation to yours and got my 2 door Badlands without Sasquatch. I didn't want to pay for something I didn't know if I was going to need. And so far, I've been able to get anywhere I wanted to. So I say go for just Badlands, make sure you go to Off-Roadeo to get familiar with what your vehicle can do (even thought they use Sasquatch equipped vehicles), and just get out there. Maybe in a few years you'll want to upgrade your suspension, but at least you'll have a better idea of what you want and can even get better components than what Sasquatch includes.

Agree with your points. I upgraded the springs to Eibach to raise it and level it out and ended up getting 35s when the 33s wore out. The gearing is the only thing I wonder about. I haven't been in enough Broncos to know how much difference I would feel with the 4.7 vs 4.46.
Can't you adjust gearing if you get the Ford ProCal tune?

The rack from H 3.0 is standard on a non-sas Badlands. If you want it from the factory with the Fox shocks, then you have to get SAS.
Right. So here’s a factor. SAS gives you the additional option of the Hoss 3.0 Fox suspension, all from the factory, all warrantied.

Yes, if one doesn't want to buy the OEM Fox shocks kit for $2300.... you can pay $6345 for the Sas package, then option the shocks for an additional $2355 ($8700 total).
