Hi Everyone,

It just happened earlier today, so I started the Bronco then all these warning lights came on ( pre collision assist not available, service vehicle soon, service advancetrac, hill descent control fault, hill start assist not available, check 4x4 ). Decided to disconnect the negative terminal to reset after multiple start / stop. I waited for 20 mins then reconnected the battery, the warning lights are still there but another issue came up, the engine just suddenly shuts off when it goes to idle. I thought it was the battery since it is about 3 years old already. So I ran to Costco and replaced it with a new one and still the same behavior. Anybody familiar with this issue? :frown: Thanks

Open the fuse box. Make sure the mounting screws are tight. I had this happen to me and remembered reading about this issue on this forum. Fixed it and it never came back.

As mentioned, check the fuse box. Also, did you reset the BMS when you replaced the battery?

reset the BMS after replacing the battery? damn modern electronics. You can't just replace the battery? What is the process of resetting the BMS or a link? My other broncos are obviously too old to have to deal with that. LOL

The "High Beam & Brake" Manual Reset
This method recalibrates the system to recognize a new battery or a full charge state.

  1. Get in and Close the Doors: Sit in the driver's seat and ensure all doors are fully closed.
  2. Turn Ignition to ON: Press the Start button without your foot on the brake. You want the electronics on, but the engine should not be running.

  3. Flash High Beams (5x): Pull the high-beam stalk toward you (flash-to-pass) 5 times quickly.

  4. Press Brake Pedal (3x): Immediately after the 5th flash, press and release the brake pedal 3 times.
  5. Wait for the Confirmation: Within about 10 seconds, look at the battery icon on your instrument cluster. It should flash 3 to 10 times.
    • Note: If the battery light doesn't flash, the sequence didn't "take." Cycle the ignition off and try again, ensuring you do the steps in one fluid motion.

I just checked the fuse box screws and were all tight. Also did BMS reset, unfortunately still the same. Waiting for the tow truck now on the way to the dealer. :cry:

Dam, that sucks. Hopefully easy fix. Let us know the outcome.

It was a rodent issue according to my service advisor. It damaged some wiring by the driver's side fender panel. Makes sense because when I changed the battery, part of the felt material that surrounds it was chewed off so probably it was trying to build a nest. I am still thankful that is nothing major. PITA though since it is almost $1300 😬

Update:

Part replaced: EU2Z-14421-BA wiring harness = 163.20
Labor = 1012.50 :cry:
