Got a small windshield chip today after 1.5 years. It bugs me, but I’ll ride it out unless it spreads and gets bad.

Who do y’all use to replace a Bronco windshield?

I'm mentioned this before, I got dinged on my insurance with 2 cracked windshields as (Comp claims over $1000). Had I known that was a thing I would've had a talk with the shop, as both windshield came in just over $1000.

I got that on my drive home. I applied it and am now sitting in my old college bar. I used it as an excuse to stop by campus on my drive home. lol

I'll advoicate for local glass shops -

Safelite is the big national company, and most every insurance company will steer you that way, because they have national accounts.

The last time I went into Safelite, they smeared RTV all over the cloth seats and denied it was them, and left glass all in the floorboards. I was pissed.

The local shop we have though - a little bit cheaper, way better service

Now, local shops can be hit or miss, but I'll never go back to Safelite again. I'm sure Safelite has perfectly fine offices too - but the national chain doesn't need my business to survive, the local guy ~does~, and will work to keep it.

Thank you! I’ve used Safelite on my 2013 Wrangler, but this Bronco windshield looks much more complex with the embedded stuff.

I joined the club last week, Safelite replaced my windshield. Guess I feel lucky, first windshield in 4.5yrs of Bronco ownership.

thats going to depend on the shop, not the chain. I literally just replaced my mustangs windshield yesterday. Safelight place here: tech took the car in, 10 minutes later came out and said insurance is only paying for aftermarket glass and he noticed my car wasn't a normal mustang (1 of 1 California Special with every option). Asked if I wanted OEM. I paid the difference, they installed and its just like factory. No glass anywhere and perfectly straight.

I’m with @Brian_B on this but I have some insider knowledge / experience. My father was an account manger for the CarLite glass division of Ford in the 70’s and 80’s. My brother was in the installation business for 4 decades. He owned his own shop for several of those decades. Safelite built their business on quantity not necessarily quality. My father sold glass to them. The insurance companies steer business their way because they are the cheapest, not always the best. But, like most things it is shop dependent. My brother had a difficult time finding good help which is paramount. Not everyone wants to be a autoglass installer it turns out. He did most of the work himself at the end. But people knew he did the best work. That being said, I had Safelite replace the side glass on my Lexus as the local shop said it would be a week or two. They replaced it with a non-OEM since OEM glass was a few weeks out with them as well. Had I been less than an 8 hour drive from my brothers house, I definitely would have went with him. I’m still finding glass in my Lexus since it was a non laminated tempered side lite that exploded.
