I just bought a used 2025 Outer Banks non SAS. I want to get factory 17” black wheels and increase the tire size. The previous owner already put 265/70/18 Wildpeaks on it and I really like them.

I have seen a lot of people say that 285/70/18 tires are fine with no modifications, but not much about 285/75/17 (basically the same size). I want the same Wildpeaks but they are a bit larger at 34.1 inches height. Can run these without removing the crash bars? If not, any other concerns other than the crash bars?

I'm running 285/75/17's +55 offset with the crash bars intact on my 25 OBX and there is no rubbing.

Should fit without issue. Badlands already wears 285-section tires on +55 offsets. 75 sidewall and Outer Banks suspension might give you some rub when fully articulating but it shouldn't happen on the street.

I want to say that the 285/75-17 will fit WITH the crash bars intact.

Just from reading posts here, and I seem to recall a Bronco that was Grand Prize Give-a-way that had been built that way.
Factory wheels with 285/75's , no lift, and it worked well, according to the builders.

I installed 285/75 r17 with a -6mm offset. I had to remove the crash bars because of rubbing with I turned the wheel all the way (either direction). I like the tight turning radius.

So the lower offset resulted in rubbing on the bars where the higher offset does not?

I would think you would be okay with an offset up to +25mm, depending on tire width.
Check out https://tiresize.com/comparison/ if you haven't already. You can play around with different setups to get an idea of how a particular wheel and tire combo will fit compared to stock.
