When I was a kid, my parents stuffed my sister and I in the backseat of a 2 door pinto hatchback. You don't NEED a 4 door for kids. You only think you do.
Can't put 3 kids in the back of a 2 door so I am glad 4 door was an option lol. Granted I only have 2, but we watch my niece a lot and now that my son in is in sports pick up his friends and teammates alot.

I have lost count on how many people have been surprised than mine was a 6G and not an EB.
I get nice jeep all the time, then again when I had my Mustang I also got nice Camaro alot. People are dumb lol

It is all part of the plan, make the 2dr less desirable and then cancel the 2dr production completely. "Nobody was buying it"
Eh, don't think that's the case. If that was, there wouldn't have been any reason to make 2-door available on all of the trims back at launch.

Even at launch, 4-Door was more popular—almost twice as popular based on this forum's stats (I have a feeling actual numbers were closer to 20-25%). And that's when all of the enthusiasts showed up to order their Bronco.

But, yeah, it's the same problem us manual transmission folks have. People buy more automatics, so they have to reduce the amount of configs that are available with a manual transmission to keep costs under control, which further reduces the amount of people who buy a manual, which further reduces the amount of configs, etc. etc. It's like a negative feedback loop.

They used to offer a manual transmission on the Ford Fusion too pre-2012 (I was saving up to buy one), but apparently volume was so low they were losing $4000 on each sale—economies of scale just didn't work out. So they eventually just cut it the option completely.

Don't know if we're there yet on the Bronco. And I'd like to think that people would continue to buy a 2-door or a manual transmission even if it was *more* expensive than the a 4-door or automatic. But not sure that's the case. Probably would just make the problem worse.

If the 2-door seated five, I would have absolutely considered it.

Which reminds me... bring back bench seats. That is all.

One good thing that MIGHT come from a lack of a V6 option on 2-doors is it could potentially prolong the availability of a manual. If I had been limited to a 4 cylinder, a manual transmission would have been a must for me.

I will say that I'd care more about a V8 than a V6. At least the V8's gonna sound good. V6? Whatever. I can understand guys getting riled up over not having a V8 option, but the V6? Homie, you already settled.

correct. transmission is wrong, and is more important than cylinder count.

The two door vs. four door argument is so stupid. Get what you want and leave the other ‘side’ alone for crying out loud! Ford vs Chevy, Jeep vs Bronco and Coke vs Pepsi fall into the same category, IMHO. Just what it is, my humble opinion as it is yours.

I don't know about that. I believe the 2-door was key for marketing at launch to give legitimacy the whole "1966" thing and to have cred with the old timers with them saying "It's back!". Jeep pretty much had a lock on the market, so they had to come in strong and legit with the 2-door being key for that.

I do truly believe most people WANT a 2-door and it is the basis of the Bronco fantasy. That was perfect when Bronco was only a concept dreaming of a G1 thru G5 Bronco....which was ONLY a two door. These people get to a dealer and lay eyes on the 2-door and say, "Hum, Sally and Robert are not going to fit well back there....and there's little room for groceries behind that seat.....let's look at this four door thing also called Bronco." They do and it is ALMOST as cool and less fun, but still more practical for $45K-$70k.

They probably sold enough 2-doors to justify its existence for G6 and also reap the marketing benefits. It may live on in a limited capacity in G7, but I personally doubt the 2-door will make it to G8. Then they can put "1996" Easter eggs in the G8 4-doors to commemorate the first death of the Bronco as part of the celebration of the second death of Bronco.
