Lets face it, if someone wants something bad enough they will figure out a way to get it. The locks stop the casual punk from easy pickings.
This is true.

But you don't have to make something so theft proof that no one can steal it. You just have to make it more difficult than the other guy's and more trouble than it's worth.

@Valhalla , for general knowledge/education check out the video of this. As we've pointed out this is a great product and great company.
I prefer pictures and text to video, you got any of that?

No, the video is worth a 1000 words. It shows a very wide array of locks each being attacked by a similarly wide range of tools/methods. Some of the tools are surprisingly fast/easy/effective on some locks. AWL really stand out.

I wanted to secure my wheels - I live in an urban core - and after trying out the McGard but not being satisfied with their look / bulk, I stumbled onto Advanced Wheel Locks -- https://advancedlocks.com/ -- I had a chat with them on the phone and just received them today. They are amazing - very secure, well made and don't adversely look like wheel looks unless you look closely.

Well packaged.

Honestly I get that some people would not like the price point, but they are made in the USA by a small business and the quality is noticeably better then McGard and are more secure as well. I have removed old McGards with an old socket and an a hammer - these are made in a conical way that makes that old socket technique impossible.

I bought a set of these (all four tires and spare) and a set of McGards (same). I have two per wheel. Where I live (Bay Area CA) things get stolen all the time.

The video is a no? I don't want to watch a video. Is there a film I can enjoy at the local cinema on it?

I have these as well, I do like them, but I have some issues with them

1. The key might look like it is attached but needs another slight rotation to seat properly, this is probably due to the unique keys made, and some might not have the issue.

2. If you have a tech use your key, there is a possibility they don't attach the key correctly and damage the key (per #1)
Ford Bronco Advanced Wheel Locks great American company to secure your wheels. PXL_20260314_163356460

3. The spare key doesn't fit perfectly as the original key

Other than that I like these locks, and if im getting work done, i usually remove the wheels locks prior.

Did you use an impact driver?

If I knew about these I would have bought them before I bought my McGards. May still get them in the near future not just for security but the aesthetic. They are less obtrusive.

I have used it on these, I'm assuming shops use air tools tho
I've never had an issue telling a shop not to use an impact wrench or other air tool on the lugs...and then I take advantage of the ability to stand by the bay as they are removed.

Also gives me time to do a visual of other components best viewed with a wheel removed...

I think it's fine to use em, but they keys needs to be inserted correctly, which I don't think a shop did and damaged it

Should be obvious...
  • Don't use impact tools on these keys.
  • Keys must fully seat into a single correct angular position on the lug.
  • Use a lot of axial pressure while using the key.
  • Don't continue to use a damaged key on a good lug
