Hey all, looks like my side steps got jammed up into my rocker panel. First all, how bad is something like this to repair?
and second, I have to upgrade to rock sliders. I hear GOAT fab is good. Are angled version better than the flat step like version?

I'm still transitioning from the Jeep world (havnt even taken my Bronco in the dirt yet).. But in the Jeep world, unless you can no longer close the door, you dont repair a battle-scar like that, you wear it proud!

Ouch, I’ll need to remember to pull mine off around rocks. I know mine are just steps not sliders.

I did the same thing with the same steps attached to my factory “rock rails”

I am happy it didn’t kink the door or affect the door seal or closing.

This would be a very expensive repair….so mine dents are still there and I am the only person that can see it.

I take my steps off when I know I will be Rock crawling or headed to the off road wheeling trails.

I keep the screw loose on mine so I can pop them off and throw them in a corner when trail riding,

Yeah, I’ve done that before, and then forgot to take them off. If it was screwed in tighter, possibly would not have happened.

anyway, I may just go rock sliders anyway. Leaning towards angled ones, so the dent’s less noticeable. And I don’t have to worry about taking them off.
Although it’s less handy as a step.

true repair will be a bit pricey. lazy filler and paint repair less so. Put a "No Step" sticker there and move on with life.

When it comes to sliders I’m a huge fan of Next Venture Motorsports. The first criticism people have is that they’re body mounted rather than frame mounted. Ford designed the body mounts to be able to hold the entire vehicle, one just needs to design the mounting brackets accordingly. Based on our experience -NVM accomplished that. We used them extensively on our first Bronco, and when pulling the sliders to move to the second bronco, both the sliders and the body mounts were perfectly fine.

Haven't installed them yet as they just came in over the weekend and I spent it (and my anniversary) laid up in bed with a fever, but I opted for the RCI sliders for my son's Badlands. They're offered in 5 and 20 degree angles and are frame mounted.

RCI Metalworks Bronco Rock Sliders

We wanted them more as a step with the added benefit of door ding protection from idiots in parking lots but figured if we were spending money on them, they might as well be fully functional in case he decides to hit the trails/rocks at some point. Install coming soon!
