This installation is far along so I wanted to provide an initial post and to keep this updated for those interested in upgrading the suspension of their Bronco Raptor to the APG ProRunner Syspension System. This is being installed on my heavily modified Bronco Raptor with a Godzilla V8 Conversion documented here which already has the APG Carbon Fiber fender system running 40" Nitto Trail Grapplers.

5/14/2026 Update - New Videos & Updates
APG posted a longer-form YouTube video featuring the suspension install, videos of the Brap on whoops, etc:

Here's another clip posted by APG in an instagram reel:

I had the Braptor out at Raptors on the Rocks in Moab, Utah this past week for my first-ever trip to Moab for rock crawling and some shorter high-speed runs. Most of the trip was spent wheeling with not as many close-up shots due to the constant movement on the trails, but this was a good angle of the rear suspension droop with the APG long-travel suspension. This is a 40" Nitto Trail Grappler tire dropping below the body line:

The suspension is completely installed and did the first shakedown run in Johnson Valley.

12/16/2025 Update (Frontend is Complete):
King 3.0 Coilovers, King 2.5 Secondary Bypass Shocks, King 2.0 Bump Stops, double-sheer billet aluminum HD tie rods, APG upper and lower control arms, and even the Braptor sway bar are all completely installed. This setup re-uses the OEM Bronco Raptor knuckle, too.

Q: Will you lose the G.O.A.T. mode suspension control? If so, won't it throw error codes?
A:
Yes, it's an acceptable sacrifice that I won't have live valve adjustments with the Fox shocks anymore. It won't throw error codes because the live valves can be bypassed with either Off Road Research's Damper Interface Device or custom code. In my case, since I have a Godzilla V8 conversion, I already have a customized program and Juicy Motorsports removed provisions for the Live Valves in the code, so it will not throw any error messages or make the computer upset.

Q: Why replace the Fox Live Valves, they are great shocks?
A:
I agree, they are great shocks. The problem I'm solving is that I want more wheel travel for my setup and there are no aftermarket options from Fox that allow for this. So you have to go with something else. The APG ProRunner system increases wheel travel (amongst other things). My Bronco Raptor weighs 7,000 lbs with the gear I carry, the 40" tires, 40" spare, full drawer system in rear, and the Godzilla V8. So I'm wanting both increased travel and a capable suspension setup as it's very far from a stock setup at this point. I do baja runs, rock crawling, overlanding, and street driving so it needs to be well-rounded.

Q: Fox Live Valves can be tuned and there are mid-travel setups available, why not go with those options?
A:
I very seriously considered this route but 40" tires are heavy and the vehicle all around is heavier than stock. The mid-travel setups I've seen are built and tuned for 37" tires. I really want as much wheel travel as possible and the APG setup is the best I could find on the market at this time that is compatible with the tire size, fenders, and V8 Godzilla installation I have.

Love the direction and can't wait to see it out and about, but...

If you had to start over, would you start with a Braptor or not--knowing what you have changed vice left stock at this point?

Id like to hear that too? It almost seems that you are discarding everything (just about) that makes a Braptor a Braptor. O/P, wont your ride end up the same as a standard bronco would as far as suspension, body , tires and maybe bumpers? Im curious as I am trying to find a way to gaet a Pro-Runner job done to my regular Bronco.

Curious what is involved to get the Raptor computer to accept 40" tires and 5.38 gears. My understanding is those parameters are somewhat locked down.

I've asked numerous people about Raptor regearing and nobody either has tried it or thinks it would work.

Awesome.

What are the front and rear motion ratios?

I get asked this a lot but I didn't buy my Braptor new, so I've never felt bad about modifying it. Now that used Braptor prices are even lower I think more folks will do suspension upgrades, a V8 conversion, or both...so it's perhaps less of a concern vs. a couple years ago. I've spent more money on upgrades (parts + labor) that I no longer use because I've "upgraded the upgrades" through the process of learning.

That being said, I've not touched the interior on mine (seats, digital dash, cameras, etc), I'm not sure what Raptor-specific upgrades there are with the Raptor trim that are not on other Broncos that you'd have to factor in if you were starting from a non-Raptor Bronco.

I still have the Raptor badges!! 😁

Ride won't be the same as a standard Bronco, not by a long shot. As for ride quality, I'm very interested to compare the new suspension setup vs. the Fox Live Valves that come with the Braptor from the factory to see what ride quality & performance differences feel like.

I think your concerns aren't very valid. If you refer back to my recent post about all of the differences between a Raptor and a non Raptor you'll see that despite a large number of discarded Raptor parts in this build, it's still a far superior starting point.

Consider the stronger and stiffer frame (50%) and body, larger/stronger CVs and knuckles, stronger transfer case and clutches, larger brakes and rotors, increased tire clearance, etc.

@22broncoraptor - Will you be working toward no rubbing F&R at all steering angles? With 40s is this going to be a significant challenge? Is APG doing your whole build? Love their stuff, but their prices are ridic...

When I first put the 40's on and since the Braptor came stock with 37" tires and 4.70 gears, it allowed to increase the tire diameter I think to 38" or so (it's been 18 months since I made that change, so can't remember the exact value).

The math on 40's and 5.38's will equate to a slightly higher rpm range at the same speed vs. Stock 37's and 4.70's, so the Forscan tables will allow for adjusting enough to get it back to "stock" behavior.

The reason regearing is not an option for Bronco Raptors is not due to software, it's actually because the products physically are not available. There are no aftermarket gears (as of this posting) for the Dana 50 rearend which keeps all Braptor owners stuck with the 4.70 OEM gears.

I wasn't remotely suggesting Braptors should be preserved like they're some hyper-rare edition or anything. I was just curious.

+1 to the comments on stronger components that come with Braptor.

Regarding tire rubbing:

Previously, with the Hyperco coils I was running with the APG fenders and 40" tires, I would only have rubbing in the inner front fenders when hitting jumps at 50+ mph (we're talking jumps, like all 4 wheels of the ground and landing hard). The rubbing was not terrible, either. In the rear I would have a slight touch to the driver side fender flare edge at full compression. I did have Foutz bump stops installed to help with this.

Here's a screen grab from a video of front fenderwell rubbing on a 55 mph jump with my old setup (2" Hyperco coils, OEM Fox Live Valves, Foutz Bump stops, 40" Nitto Trail Grappler Tires) - you can see the tire smoke come from the passenger front fender:

Ford Bronco 5/14/2026 Update - Bronco Raptor APG ProRunner Suspension Installation 1765169507550-cm

There was already zero rubbing at full turn on the street as well as articulating while turning during rock crawling.

I'll expect even better results this time around with a fully tuned suspension.

And yep, APG is doing the entire suspension build!

If you're referring to wheel travel, I'll get these numbers once it's finished and measurements can be taken with 40" tires on.

Cool, but the suspension doesn't really determine the rubbing, it's about additional clearancing. Sounds like you're not too concerned about it. Just would be super cool if you could get factory (37) like clearance.

Regardless absolutely sick build, everything. What a massive project.
