Yes. It appears it is the ECM that becomes damaged and Ford is trying to do a software fix because new ECMās are too expensive. -

I would say forst get 1000W+ @ 2ohm sub amp that can process high level and a loaded 10-12" enclosure from Hertz or Audison grade etc...
