120v power port not working

Hi! Tried the 120v power port on the back of the center console for the first time, no power. Searched the Sync manual and read the paper manual, both mention an indicator showing whether the port is on, off, or in fault mode. On and off indicator makes me think there is a switch, but the manuals don't mention a switch. I know the vehicle has to be in accessory mode or running.

Fuse 36 under the hood is not blown.

Any suggestions before I make a warranty appointment?

Mine just worked. Make sure you REALLY jam that 12v plug in there good though. Both of my 12v were first time tight, second time alright.. Took a lot of finesse... I'm trying really hard to avoid sexual innuendos here..

Ford literature claims it only can support something like 1.4A, if you are trying to charge more than a cell phone, there might be a current limiting circuit to prevent you from over loading it. What are you trying to plug in?

Hi - no no, this is not the USB or "cigar lighter" port - it is the 120v AC aka "house outlet"...

I appreciate your responses, makes me think to check all of the cigar.lighter plugs and USB ports.

You're limited to 400w total, which at 120v is only a mere 3.3 amps. It's going to work for small to medium sized electronics, but anything with a motor is iffy.

What are you plugging in?

According to the advertising material, that receptacle is good for only 400 watts. AT 120 volts, that would be 3⅓ amperes. There are a lot of things you might want to plug into that, that would need more. I wonder if you've tried to plug in something that draws more than that, and triggered whatever overcurrent device (fuse or circuit breaker) is in place to protect it.

A disappointment to me is that 400 Watts is not enough to draw what the better of my two DeWalt battery chargers claims to need, and barely enough to run the lesser one.

I wonder, though, if these chargers really pull as much as they claim, or whether DeWalt greatly overstated it just to allow a generous margin of safety. 6 amps at 120 volts would be 720 watts. But the output is up to 12 amps at 20 volts, which would be only 240 watts. I know that some loss is to be expected, an of course, the cooling fan needs power, but does this charger really need three times as much power in* as it puts out?

The lesser charger claims it needs 3 amps, which, at 120 volts, would be 360 watts. It outputs up to 8 amps at 20 volts, which would be 160 watts, Not as extreme as the DCB1112, but still, does it really need twice as much power in* as it puts out?

Hey, Seanette — In all your various rearrangement of stuff in the apartment, do you have any memory of seeing something that consists of a plug, and a receptacle, both bright yellow, with three separate wires,, green, white and black, connecting them? Sort of like a very short extension cord, but with three separate wires rather than one cable? I think I either need to find that, or buy the parts and make another, so that I can measure how much current these chargers really draw.

Put a multimeter on it, or one of those three pronged plug testers. You can check the voltage without load. We all assume you had the Bronco engine running while you tried the outlet right?

Yes, I was the only one that wasn't confusing it with the 12V. It is not 400W, it rated at 150W at 110V (per the cover), that is 1.3A. Unless there has been some change in the specs for 2021, ignore those that claim 400W (and 3 plus amps).

Are you sure about that? 150 watts would be so wimpy as to not be worth even existing as a 120V receptacle.

I cannot find anything specific to the 2022 model year, but every reference that I can find to it for 2021 clearly claims that it is 400 watts.

OK, I found one place where it claims that it's only 150 watts. I hope that's wrong. Everywhere else I can find any reference to the receptacle, it either says nothing about how much power, or else it says 400 watts.
