Insallling tow hitch: is thier torque specs for rear bumper? Please and thank you

Have to remove because of the way the bolts are installedDoes the rear bumper need to come off? Don't have my bronco yet but every other hitch I've put on I've never removed the bumper.

Oh wow - you sure do. Always have used Draw-tite hitches and all of the bolts come with wires on them that you use to thread the bolts through the frame and hitch - not sure that would work in this application though.Have to remove because of the way the bolts are installed![]()

Removal

Vehicles With: Rear Fog Lamps/Rear Parking Aid
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
Refer to: Jacking and Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
- Disconnect the rear bumper wiring harness connector.

- Disconnect the rear bumper wiring harness connector.

- On both sides.
Remove the bolt.
Torque: 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)

- NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.
Remove the bolts and the rear bumper.
Torque: 59 lb.ft (80 Nm)Installation

- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Leave the bumper on and put the bolts in from the other side with the nut on right side of your picture.Have to remove because of the way the bolts are installed![]()

Nuts appear welded on.Leave the bumper on and put the bolts in from the other side with the nut on right side of your picture.
4-5 of them to be safe. This is of course after running them down as far as you can with a wrench.Ugga duggas!

It's designed to be assembled quickly with minimal thought or automated with a robotic bolt driver. Zero consideration for repair or maintenance. Dollars waiting on dimes...I have no words. A bit myopic in the design
