I'm not trying to be mean.
I guess I'm trying to let folks know there's a 15:565,000 chance of any damage anywhere outside of the vehicle hood area.
In those chances is the five year history as proof of those chances, there is no speculation or computer model.
Just reality.

I say this because I'd hate for someone who lives on the cusp of reality to be in fear and make some rash decision like having their bronco crushed.
I just want to allay any fears yhe fearful might have.
Worry spreads, sometimes to irrational or bad decisions.

Here is a targeted list of things in life and science that carry roughly 1:38,000(15:565,000) chance of happening:

Dog Attacks (Lifetime Fatality Odds): According to the National Safety Council lifetime injury data, the odds of a person dying from being killed by a dog.


An asteroid impacting Earth in the 2080s: NASA calculations for the newly monitored asteroid 2022 RD2 place its specific odds of hitting Earth by the year 2083 at approximately 1 in 38,000.

So, ... do we know for a fact that of a potential total sample size of 565,000 vehicles only 15 have issues? Bad logic, bad statistic, bad assumption.

While I'm speculating (that's a more honest word) that the incidence rate of actual significant issue is small (for some value of "small"), we have no idea of the actual scope or magnitude until the inspections are worked through.

All you can honestly say is that it's likely bigger than a bread box, but smaller than an Escalade.

Indeed we do.
Of 565,000 only 15 have had this electrical short per the government and Ford and five years of history of highly analyzed history.
If the number are off by double or even ten times...150:565000 is still not a worry except for worries sake.

Potentially? If there are no more fires due to the recall being enacted? The number stands.

If another 15 have this issue in the next five years the odds will be adjusted to 30:565,000.

Punchline:
There are (maybe) better chances of being hit by lightning as a donkey kicks you to death.
So,
You all should maybe Spend 5 minutes to check your bronco. If you don't spend the five minutes but expend the worry for months to come until the dealer gets you in...

I have been asking the dealer and then was told to call Ford. Niether was able to answer my question. "Will this vehicle only catch fire while running or can it catch fire (not running) parked, such as in the garage of my house?" I am not letting Ford's incompetence burn my house down, so I have been parking it outside and away from my house, because I cannot get an answer to this simple question.

Did you really expect an answer on that? What if they said, yup, you’re good to go, no worries? Would you sleep soundly on the word of a service advisor or some unknown person at Ford saying, good to go, no issues?

I don't give a rats ass about whether or not my dealer/Ford/Santa Claus can or will fix the harness issue because I'm out beating the living shit out of the truck just HOPING it catches fire and burns to the frame. Then I'll sue Ford for a brand new one. And, I'll get one. Carry on!

Im waiting too, and Im trying not to complain too much, as the OG first reservation holders had it way worse.
Ive thought about 26s as well, and I have one close that I think about pulling the trigger on every day. Its $6k more expensive and rhe same exact build as the 25 I put a non-refundable deposit on the VIN. The price is almost $13k under sticker. So, I am committed and trying be halfway cool.
The guys at the dealership dont really know any more than we do. I called Ford customer service, and they had nothing for me either.
Lock in. Watch some Ted Lasso, and thank goodness for coolege football season starting.
I get to wash my wife's Bronco though. So, i got that going for me.

The Bronco I have a deposit on is a basic base Sas that's 7k off. I realize there's not a ton of margin on something like that, but some lightly optioned Badlands are on the cusp of being competitive on price.

Also, rock climbing season is almost here and I won't look cool at the trailhead in a Prius.
