Who actually off-roads their 7MT?

Just picked up my 7mt heritage and plan on taking it to NORA which is only 40 minutes or so from me in August or Sept. Cannot wait! I come from the high performance driving world and I think a lot of the skills will translate. Mainly throttle and brake control, and vehicle placement. If @APG12 is in NY would love to join up with other bronco owners!

I wasn’t familiar but I just looked it up. I’m about an hour and a half south so that’s easily doable for me.

Restarting ignition often resets the drive mode and then the lockers need to be reengaged or the 4lo needs to be reselected.

Lockers idk about, mine are hardwired, but the drive mode doesn’t change on restarts on mine.

Maybe if you are using GOAT modes and it always will try to return to Normal. But if you just select 4Lo without a GOAT mode it will stay there forever if you want

I use GOAT modes for the subtleties outside of lockers and tcase settings shown and not shown in this chart.

Eco and rock crawl throttle control allows me to find gas pedal sweet spot of enough but not too much power. Baja changes something with fuel delivery and there's significantly less rev hang so I do use that on fast trails for quicker gear changes without having to power shift like in normal. Don't love the increase in steering effort in either mode but in 4X4 vs 2h it's less pronounced.

I've got Ford Performance Tune with Rev Matching, not sure how much that affects equation.

I've taken my 2 door MT badlands for an off road trip every summer since I took delivery in April 2022. Most of that has been in the San Juans in CO, but I've also been through a lot of national forest land through the mountains of Idaho and CO as well.

I have a 26 Badlands 7MT on order and just curious on feedback from those who actually off road with it.

I learned to drive on a manual and many of my daily drivers have been manual over the years. That being said, I have basically no off roading experience with a manual. In all reality, my Bronco will mostly be a pavement princess, with the exception of navigating my treacherous driveway in NY winter storms.

But I’d love to hear some honest feedback and any tips or tricks anyone may have for when I do decide to venture out.

Yes there are only two places I have ever wanted an auto one is the sand drags or just drag racing and the other is the dunes, I get around just fine in the Sand Hallow it would just be real nice to have the tranny shifting so quick you do not loose momentum.

A few trails my 2dr BaseManSquatch has taken me. Rubicon, Pearl Pass, Black Bear, Wheeler Lake, Rattle Snake Gulch, Moab Top of the World, Poison Spider, Alpine loop (almost doesn't even count as I could have done it in a Sport) Sand Hallow, Plan B, Sliplock Gulch, The Chute, jsut lived in it for 3 weeks to do the Al-Can HWY and many more.

That is were my Bronco got his name Crawl. I have many times put it in C 4L and gotten out. It is fun to watch peoples reaction to my Bronco driving over an obstacle by himself.

It is so much fun off-roading with the 7MT! A good number of the guys I wheel with also have the manual. I do find it interesting that most of the manuals are also 2-door, but that's neither her nor there.

I'm a founding member of Tri-State Broncos and we do some pretty gnarly stuff. The actual founder also has a 2-door 7MT. Another founding member is getting rid of his 4-door auto and buying a 2-door manual.

I promise you'll love it! Also, since you're in NY, check out Tri-State Broncos. We do a good number of trips every year and get enough turnout so we can have multiple groups hitting the trails. Start off with the easier group and then when comfortable, move up to the intermediate/advanced group.
