Onboard Air (Tailgate Mounted) and Hood Solar Panel installed

I bought (and QUICKLY returned) the Red Rock winch mount for my 2023 Wildtrak.
What a piece of TOTAL crap that thing was. I wouldn't touch another of their products with a 10 foot pole.

I almost went with that compressor, but was really not sure it would be quick enough or could do all 4 tires at once. Went with the arb twin

IAG had a sale on the 4th.... pretty much made me pull the trigger. I just thought it was more convenient to have the air supply on the exterior instead of popping the hood to connect the hose.

What’s the noise level like? I feel like passengers would be treated to a lot of compressor droning.

A nice side benefit of opening the hood for the air compressor is letting the engine cool off a bit if you’ve been working it hard.

I do like a permanently mounted option, though.

I don't want to step on OP's thread but I have the IAG onboard compressor kit installed as well.

The noise level is not insignificant, and it does pass a little bit of vibration through the rear door. I have a portable Viair compressor (450P I believe) as well and the noise levels are similar - having it inside the rear door seems to muffle the noise a bit, but adds in the vibration.

If you were to sit in the car while filling all 4 tires or something you could still listen to the radio or have a conversation - so it isn't deafening - but if we have our dogs with us I take them out of the car for a quick walk around while its running and to let it cool after.

Can it fill all 4 tires quickly? Quickly is kind of an eye of the beholder metric - but it's no ARB twin. To air the Bronco Raptor OE tires back up I think it is sufficiently quick - gives you a bit of a break between trail and tarmac, time to get the above-mentioned dogs out for a stretch or bathroom break before heading back to civilization. If we were on kind of a trail-centric trip where maybe you're trying to do a few different things in one day that have some drive between them - air up/air down/air up/air down - I think you'd then find it a bit slow.

The integration is great - that was the feature that tipped me. Its a complete DIY-friendly kit, works for those that cannot work out their own wiring or simply don't want to attempt it, they have instructions in print and video, its quite well done. The install is not difficult but is a bit tedious because you're working in some odd and confined space in that rear door - some of the 'which way do I need to rotate this to get it in cleanly' mental gymnastics. I did have to trim and carefully route the air lines to have clean angles at the fittings so they were air-tight.

No complaints, works exactly as it should, well thought-out integration. I have a couple of IAG items and have been impressed with all of them. (this and their AOS)

The American Adventure Lab kit is also quite cool - but it has some more modularity/optionality - and I was afraid I might be to 12V dumb to sort that one out with the same level of success - but their stuff is typically top notch as well.

The install is not difficult but is a bit tedious because you're working in some odd and confined space in that rear door - some of the 'which way do I need to rotate this to get it in cleanly' mental gymnastics. I did have to trim and carefully route the air lines to have clean angles at the fittings so they were air-tight.

Yup, I already had the Rigid chase light mounted, so I had extra wires running from the tailgate. I actually drilled the grommet behind the break light to run the adapter harness through so I can combine all wires together in one bundle...

Someone else had a really nice hood mounted solar panel that was custom fit, seems like it was only 60W or so, but it looked good.

Is that the Cascadia? That one is 60W. I've never heard of Lensun.

That IAG is nice. One of the reasons I did not go with it was that, at the time, I had a Badlands with a TOR carrier. No place to put the tank. I ended up using a ARB single mounted to an AAL panel there.

You are correct; a great place for space that is not used.

I have not had any issues with heat. I have used it numerous times to deflate and inflate. No problems at all. I use EZ-Flate and inflate all 4 tires at once.
