Just dropped it off at the dealer again.

I have a 23 Badlands that I bought new. I’ve had it for less than two years and it only has 18k miles.

So far it’s on its second hard top for cracking, 4-5 recalls, the doors needed to be realigned due to chipping paint, the rear tailgate had the rattle (dealer couldn’t figure it out and wanted to replace the entire swing gate. Fixed myself in 10 mins), and now it’s getting its sway bar actuator replaced under a TSB.

I’ve had Fords my entire life, but this is ridiculous

I am sorry. That sounds horrible. I have had the opposite experience. 2023 2 door Wildtrak with 65000 miles on it and no problems except the rear window recall. Also still have the original goodyear territory MT tires. I wish quality control was better and those bad cars didn't slip through. Makes me scared to replace mine.

What did you do to fix the tailgate rattle?

You spray some WD40 white lithium up inside the tailgate. It’s something with the spare tire flexing the internal supports
Got it, yes I have seen others note that as a fix. I'm going to give it a try.

To your original question: for me when I bought this truck as one of the first 1000 or so off the line I knew it was going to have some risk from a quality perspective. So from that perspective it has exceeded my expectations on reliability. Yes it does have a lot of squeaks and rattles but again I signed up for that when I decided to buy a capable off road vehicle.

Just got word from the dealer that the sway bar fix is back ordered until late June / early July

I got the extended 10-year warranty when I bought it in 2021 (with 1.9% financing through Ford). I keep my cars for a long time so it was an easy decision (1st year model, American, lots of technology to break that I wouldn't be able to fix myself.

Considering it, but I tend to only keep cars 4-5 years

Probably not worth it unless it's fully transferable. As a used buyer, a warranty would be a big selling point.

They are transferable. They go with the VIN and is based on the in-service date.
