Looking for some feedback from fellow Bronco owners.

I'm considering adding either street glow (underglow) or rock lights to my Ruby Red 4-door Bronco and would love to hear from people who have actually lived with either setup.

A few questions:

• If you have rock lights, do you find yourself using them often outside of off-roading?
• If you have street glow, do you ever regret not going with rock lights instead?
• Which looks better on a Bronco: amber or purple?
• For those who have done both, which gets more compliments and which is more practical?
• Any photos you'd be willing to share?

My Bronco is Ruby Red with a black hard top, black wheels, amber grille lighting, and Raptor marker lights. Right now I'm leaning toward amber because it seems to fit the Bronco's rugged look, but the purple street glow definitely has a cool factor.

I'd appreciate any opinions, photos, lessons learned, or "if I had to do it over again..." advice.

Thanks!

Depending on placement, you may get a LOT of shadow if the lights are mounted in the wheel wells. I have a set of Rock lights that I have gone back and forth with your same question a while now and will likely just mount them under the Side steps to give an ubderglow like you mention. You may want to consider color-changing lights so you can change the look (in case you tire of the purple/amber) Red would look cool under your rig - with the added flashing/strobe multi-color feature available.

Rock lights, street glow strips just don't last as long. Stick to the 8-12 light kits in the $100-200 price range and plan to replace them in 3-4 years. Mine are bolted(tiny little bolts with big washers and lock nuts) to my fender liners. Going on 4 years and they work every time I turn them on!

So my question is, are you looking to just go with a pretty color under your Bronco or actually looking for lights that perform well off-road for your rig?

Great question. My wife drives the Bronco and was curious about adding some unique lighting to the vehicle, which is why I posed the question.

Ron, thanks so much for your feedback. I like the versatility of the color-changing lights, too. I am receiving a lot of great feedback from folks here, which is why this forum is fantastic.

We've always preferred rock lights on our Bronco builds for a few reasons. The biggest advantage is flexibility. With rock lights, you can position the lights exactly where you want them, whether that's in the wheel wells, under the body, or a combination of both. That gives you a lot more control over coverage and the final look compared to a fixed strip-style setup.

We're also fans of RGB systems because you're not locked into a single color. You can run white for utility lighting, amber for a more subtle look, or switch things up with different colors and effects whenever you want.

Rock lights. TBH street glow lights don't really light up that well compared to rock lights. I'm not too crazy about the colored lighting thing. But amber looks way better than purple, better for fog and dust too

I have cheap eBay white rock lights (2 in each fender liner) they do the job off road (good for spotters)…colored lights are for ”tuner” folks…party on!

Fun fact... I used to work at StreetGlow :) I began working for them around 1999 and launched their first e-commerce store and gave them a website. I was their on-site IT guy as well. Even after I left I still went back as a contractor to help them with their networking when they moved locations.

Sooo neon lights is a completely different animal. It's going to cost you more, because they don't make their neon kit in China anymore. They make it the USA to order. SG went from a big company and has downsized bigtime so it's just different now adays.

Rock lights are cheaper and you can install them all over. They also feature RGB (if you get that style) so you can change colors. However you'll need more rock lights to fill all the gaps. Which is good, because you can add on rock lights. With the SG 9500 kit (didn't even have to look that up! I knew it by heart lol) you'll have "dead" spots under the truck and you may need to add on more tubes.

Also neon can break a lot easily then a rock light (that's how SG started when the owner broke a custom neon tube under a customers truck and he had to pay to replace it)

So if you did rock lights, go with the Diode Dynamics kit: https://www.4x4truckleds.com/led-auxiliary-lights/diode-dynamics/rock-lights/

Do these actually have any function, or is it just about looking baller in the mall parking structure? Asking sincerely.
